Hi All,
Struggling with the debt repayment side of things.
Does anyone have any advice when it comes to improving relationship with money.
I’ve spent what feels like my whole life seeing my wages and money as just numbers rather than a valuable thing. It has also lost its worth due to the amount I’ve wasted away.

Any input welcomed.

Hello SP,
Thanks for sharing this.
That’s really insightful to recognise you’ve lost sight of the value of money. You’re not alone here – a lot of people will recognise what you’ve described, especially when gambling online and you can’t see a physical transaction of money taking place. Â
It might be worth reflecting on what money represents to you so you can start to re-build your relationship with it and its value. Money often represents something other than just the money itself. For example, for some people, money represents security whilst to others it might mean freedom or a way to look after others. You might also find setting some financial goals to work towards could help. If you wanted to chat to us about this, you can phone our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 any time.
We’ve produced some info sheets around managing your money, including one on debt advice and support with details of organisations in the UK that offer support and advice. You would also be welcome to get some support from our Money Guidance Service if you’re based in the UK.  The service doesn’t offer debt advice but the team offers tailored one to one money guidance support. You can ask for a referral via our Helpline.
I hope you can continue to share your experiences on here.
All the best,
Claire
