Hi Killie,

Well done for ticking off Week 1. Onwards to Week 2! The result was 1-1 as you know, but at least, being gambling free, you can enjoy the game and not fret over the result.

When you don't bet on football you can actually enjoy the game. The atmosphere, the tactics, the skills, the players, the goals, the saves...

Please don't get me wrong, you care about the result, as a Killie fan, but it doesn't really need your hard-earned on it.

When you gamble on a game, it's about the cold result. Or how many corners in a game FFS!

Keep it going Killie; it's amazing how much more we see, in front of our very eyes, when we're gambling free.

It only matters when there's money on it? I would say it's the exact opposite, actually!

Thanks mixer.
Your totally correct, I can go to a game these days and actually enjoy it ( when we win anyway but doesn't happen often)
Had a good day with friends yesterday it's days like that makes you realise what you've got and what u stand to lose if u continue to gamble

You are seeing things the right way Killeboy.

Never forget what you have and how quickly this disease can take it all away.....family, house, job and more !

Enjoy life and all its worth without the burden of gambling.....the odds are stacked against those who gamble now and again.

For those of us who when we start, cannot stop...there is no chance whatsoever.

Choose happiness mate, you have enough sadness standing at Rugby Park 🙂

Haha thanks sbb.
All those things you've mentioned are the things I've worked hard to get or get back in some respects during my first spell of not gambling and as I said before this was just a slip up this.
P.S Hope u had a good day in troon and less of the killie slating lol

Day 10.

Currently find myself with a hour to myself so logging in to read some recovery diaries and update my own as this is the kinda time that I can get bored and as mentioned before "the devil makes work for idle hands".
Luckily one of the blocks I have in place is giving my Mrs my bank card so even if I had the urge i can't do any damage.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Killie and may I say, excellent move. Your Mrs will appreciate the consideration and respect you have shown here, and you have removed an important means by which you could gamble.

In other words, taking this d**n seriously. And using the time, that idle time that, as you say, the devil so loves, to think: how can I make myself even less inclined to gamble?

All this thinking's in the right direction Killie - glad you're sticking with it, one determined day at a time, my friend.

Day 11.

Early finish from work today, managed to repay a little of the debt I owe to the bank and buy flowers for Valentine's day.

Feel as if I have achieved something buydoing this as in the past when I have had money in my pocket I've went to the bookies instead of the bank and ended up owing more.
This may sound strange to some but it's good to know my money is going to something useful instead of squandering it

Hi Killie,

Congrats mate on 11 days now GF!! Been following your story as can relate to certain aspects of it & thought I would add a message of support as well!!

Your doing a great job by keeping busy & a brilliant move was to give over your debit card to avoid any temptations. As my main problem was online gambling and for me the main issue was if I had any spare time it was just so easy to grab my iPad to have a quick bet. So it's great you've got blockers in place to help you through it.

Keep doing what your doing buddy as it's clearly working & the future will look so much better for you & your family if you keep this up like you did before.

All the best

Paul

Cheers mate, Thanks for the support. I hope you are well too.

I also have been reading loads of other diarys as it's good seeing what other blocks people have in place and how u can include them into your own life.

Day 13.

Had a horrible couple of days ended up in a & e yesterday due to a wee accident at work.

I'm fine though and on the bright side I've been too busy to have any gambling thoughts which is a bonus.

I'm fine now thanks silly.

Tbh these 2 weeks have flown past but I know the real test will come next Wed when it's wages day and I've got money in the bank.
My heads in a good place at the moment though and along with not having my bank card I feel I will overcome any urges I get.

Day 16.

Last night I had a really strong urge to gamble but managed to fight it off.

Was sitting watching tv then all of a sudden it seemed as every advert was for online casinos or bingo.
The adverts on tv are one of my biggest bugbears as they always seem to glamourize it, normally they don't have any affect on me though.
Went to my bed and woke up this morning in a better place.

Here's hoping today's a bit better

Well handled last night, and today WILL be better, afterall you are that bit stronger today than you were yesterday!

A bit of advice - Dont get yourself in a lather over pay day - its just another day.

Dont think about it, dont make references to it, for you it is just Day 20 - No more no less!

If you make it big, it has the potential to be big, if however its small and insignificant, thats exactly what it will be !

Sbb

(Hope your team can do mine a favour today and give the Dons a hard time)
