Hi Carl,

You are back on track again. No wallet = no cash = no gambling.

Good idea saving.....I started saving last year in a building society account. Got a pass book and I pay a very small amount in every month. It's mounting up nicely now and seeing it increase in the passbook really motivates me.

Love to you and Toby x

hi jas. thanks 4 the post.

Well today was a good day at work i finished at 12 noon and then i had to get Some money out to do some shopping. so i got out £40 i went to iceland to get my bits. After i went into the bookies. WHAT you say i know i had a £5 note and i thought its not much to lose. But when i went in the was a que on the machines. I thought this must be a sign and walked out So it is 6 DAYS no gambling. When i walked away i thought to myself Yes well done carl. As a present to myself for doing so well i went to sainsburys and got 24 cans of fosters for a £10. Bargin. If i carry on like this next sunday i will get myself a new Golf bag for going to the driving range with. I'm not taking my wallet to work again now for a week so no temptation. Happy day for me.

I picked kids up from school and had a kick around in the park. Now watching the footie with my cans. 🙂

C & T.

Carl, I am so sorry to hear what you did today. But please don't give up! Everyone has a blip including me and telling my family what happened after that blip was incredibly difficult and I felt that I really let themselves and myself down. I haven't gambled since that day.

Starting a recovery is the most difficult thing that anyone can ever do. To be able to stop gambling completely after years and years of doing so has to be impossible just like in our experiences.

I can certainly share how you must feel right now which is utter desperation but please, for goodness sake, don't give up mate. You made a great decision some time ago by coming here and telling all and you have now had this blip.

I really hope that you will be able to post here again as we are all here to support each other.

Keep the faith, mate and you will feel a lot better in a few days.

winning post and worried58.

Thanks for your kind words. And you are right IM NOT GONNA GIVE UP.

I was a bit silly last night to. I went on my freinds pc and Gambled £300 pound off my credit card. But luckiy i won it back and withdrew it. I think it was my last chance.

Today is a new day. I going to ring up the bank in a bit and change my withdrawal limit to £50 and cancel the credit card. Then I'm going to be normal and not gamble again. Them machines should be banned.

I will promise you all now I'm never step in a bookies again. And i mean it this time. The only good thing to come out of yesterday is the amounts are getting smaller and I today have had a reality check. Day 1 Again. I will do it this time.

Hi Carl

A few good ideas there in your last post m8.

A smaller withdrawal limit and canceling the credit card will help you loads.

You promise us all you will never step in a bookies again kid.The main thing is Carl keeping that promise to yourself.I can see you want to do this .Stay strong Jeff.

Great to see you back and feeling really positive today! Well done on reducing your withdrawal limit and cancelling your credit card - this really is another major step towards your recovery.

I did not realise that your gambling losses had been getting smaller and smaller and that, again, can only be a really fantastic thing and you are now reducing those losses even further...

...to zero!

Keep posting mate and all the best with your new and final recovery.

Just finshed cancelling my credit card and lowered my debit card to £50. wrote out a, Not to do again list.

1. don't ever walk into a betting shop again, as it will just temp me into betting and once i start i can't stop. And never bet online.

2. never go out with your cash card on me. Just incase i give in to temptation and start betting again. But rule no1 is the best way to stop by far.

3 drop cash limit to £50 and cancel credit card.

4. Any savings i make put in bonds like nsi ones. so it takes weeks to get the money back.

5. I'm the only one who can really help me

Then i put

f*****g stick to this plan or you are gonna have a s**t life.

I stuck it on the fridge and on a mirror upstairs and im gonna read it every day.

Thanks for all the kind post today. I have to do a mind over matter thing and i will beat it.

Crossed my fingers for us all. xx

Hey Carl,

Sounds like you've had a tough few days combating this thing, ut you're getting the blocks in place which can stop it happening, or at least give you time for your will to kick in and prevent the gamble.

The list you've got sounds good, though maybe you might want to add something positive on there to work for as well as telling yourself not to gamble.

I've made a few big promises to myself if I can pay off all my debt and work hard on the overtime front to bring in extra cash, so the music festival in Belgium and my holiday next year are the rewards on the horizon if I stay gamble free.

Keep it up mate,

Ryan

Hi all,

I was thinking of moving house getting a better one, but do you think i should with my gambling problem???????????

The blocks are working no online gambling. And today took my wallet to work so i could get some bits after. But i forgot to put my cash card in it. lol So went to atm and well looked like fool standin que with no card.

Did go down later and tested if it wud give me £60 but it said it would be more than my daily limit. Got out just £30.

I'm doing ok weird but gonna get used to it.

thanks for your posts i will have to look for a goal to get if im good.
