im really happy for you stacey , firstly nothing wrong with working in macs if thats where you mean , also that working with people will improve your social life and at the same time take time away that you might of used to gamble, also your earning instead of spending on silly gambling thats like effectivley earning more every hour you work as its stopping you loose money by the hour with those hours not being able to gamble cus working instead, i was honestly worried for you before but i think you will do it now, you seem to have unleashed the fighter in you not letting this addiction take your life , well keep strong and remember we cannot gamble because we cannot stop and so theres no point starting , all the best simon
Day 15
Yes, your right simon, It's McDonalds, Only thing is I've just realised is that they tend to put everyone on 0 hour contracts but still give you the work, Only problem is if I become unreliable and unwilling to extra shifts and come in at the last minute to cover, I could be out of pocket. So I actually don't know what to do.
Well done Stacey
Day 16
Ok, I may of haven't done anything useful today, But at least I haven't been useless and lost anything, Now for the weekend which probably will suck and I'm still waiting on some news about starting work.
Hi Stacey,
Just a note to say well done on remaining gamble free. I've just completed 1 month and 1 day, 29 days in total now.
Somebody recommended a book on my recovery diary which I'm going to buy at £6.99 - it might help you too?
Keep up the fight, and have a look on Indeed for jobs as it lists everything on there.
At the beginning of your diary, I understood what you meant about your friends being settled down etc, it's a bit like they are ahead of you in time as you've lost some of your time to gambling, but you can have a better future without it.
There could well be a better job out there for you, it's a numbers game (this is my field so I know what it's like) so just keep on applying and eventually you will get what you want. If McDs comes off in the meantime, great, just do your best and keep a lookout.
Have some girlie time as well.... I do that a lot, it really helps!

Stacey
Thanks for the kind words upon my thread, they really do help with my resolve to continue enjoying what is on offer to all of us through making the right choice.
One day at a time life will offer you better opportunities through saying those three words
NO BET TODAY
we all have that choice to make each day, whether we are on day 1 or day 1000.
Keep making yours
Duncs stepping forward never back.
Hi Stacey
I was interested to read in your opening post that you end up with £0 as normal! Now you have some recovery under your belt you may start to realise that ending up with £0 is abnormal. It is funny how I read your number 19 and a flashback as to where it is and its position etc came to me. Completely normal reaction for a compulsive gambler. Acting upon this thought is most dangerous but the good news is they come and go less frequent the longer you are here
Stay strong and keep posting and reading
Take care
Day 21
I really don't know what is going on in my head, I'm poor still with nothing to spend, BUT... This is a good thing because No Money = No Gambling, And I've managed to clock up 3 weeks without any betting now, Nothing has changed since the weekend and its just a general update to what is happening.
Once again, Thanks for the messages.
Well done, Stacey

Hi Stacey well done on all those days without gambling. I read your initial post and the number 19 is one of my fav numbers on the wheel ( wait let me rephrase that used to be one of my fav numbers ) You see my neighbors bets were most of the time 3 32 2 and 4 neighbors with the no 19 always having more money on it. That numbers makes me sick now i never want to hear that number because it's a s**t number for me and the amount of money i spent chasing that number. Anyway it's behind me now and i hope for you too, again congrats on the amount of days so far G free.
Hi Stacey
I have read all of your diary and I echo the words of the others by saying weldone for staying gamble free for nearly a month. It is really inspiring how you have managed to do most of this on your own
. Debt is the most difficult part in the recovery because we can't just ignore it and it is a constant reminder of the devastation gambling created. But imagine for a split second you were still gambling how much more time would you need to pay off the extra debt incurred? I know it's hard but what has helped me to recover is to try and look for the positive in all the negative and focus on achievable goals.
Good luck with this recovery and keep posting.
Day 47
Yeah I know...
I have not posted, I just didn't feel the urge to visit the forum recently, Nothing much to report other than... I'm still gamble free since I last visited...
Although I did get the urge for US Masters Golf, Would of been 100 on Phil Mickelson, But ofc he missed the cut... So it's like a small win in a way!
I cleared one of my smallish outstanding debts leaving me with an extra 25 a month to spare from now on, I know it's not a lot but as they say, every little helps.
Day 48
OK, I don't know what to do, say or write!
I guess this cross the thoughts of many compulsive gamblers since there is a severe lack of motivation going on, Still have very little cash on hand but as we know no money is no bet.
Affected by gambling?
