Hi Pat, well done so far. How have you dealt with the urges over the past month? For me, I found the first three weeks horrendous last time I got that far but then it got easier. Must be a chemical change in the brain. I guess we just have to keep ourselves busy with other things, but it is hard. I am back at Day Zero at the moment after fooling around earlier on some low-level evening horse racing. Anyway, good luck with your own recovery. Are you still collecting a coin each day?

Back in the /////, got paid had a few bets, won a grand, following day won 1200, following day won 900, following day lost 1800, next day lost 2000, next day lost 1500, net result -2200 and back in a world of pain.

Last bet was saturday the 24th, been away with work since then so not thought about it but am back home this evening.

This time last month i had 4 gamble free weeks under my belt and was feeling so good, just can understand why i keep doing this, i am generally such a logical person but when it comes to gambling that just goes so out the window.

If i being perfectly honest i just can see how i can win this fight (shocked i just typed that but i just feel that is the reality of it all)

does realising you cant win mean you stop trying or mean you just have to accept that every day is going to be a fight......

cr** this is a depressing post, was not the plan... Anyway today is day 5 and am off for the weekend.

Funny story (story of my life for the last 23 ish years), when i was up last week i was thinking about bring my family away for the long weekend to a nice hotel for some quality time, now it looks like we might get too the cinema one of the evenings.

The first days are a real struggle. I have fallen off the wagon twice in the past week, but this has to be the third time lucky!

Great family day today, doing things I should always do with free time not be running to a bookies to see how much I can win ( who am I kidding always lose)

Anyway feeling positive and plan to make it to 1st July as a first target, it will happen.

Hi Pat,

1 week without gambling now. We're on the same day for a change.

I'm going to take your 2 coin challenge too; I've got seven knocking around so they've gone in a jar.

It's not great at the moment, Pat. Going to merely stand still on the finances for a few weeks. Baby number 3 due in 2 months (or less) and no doubt there'll be things to buy. They'll have to go on a CC. I've stopped drinking (2 weeks now) to save money - I wasn't an alcoholic, but I liked a drink or two on most nights. That money is needed elsewhere now - around 160 a month, I reckon. So some positive health benefits I suppose.

How are things with you? Does your misses know? Can you survive? I agree that perhaps the demon lives inside us forever, but it can be beaten - maybe 'managed' is a better word. Well it has to be.

tough weekend, many thoughts of gambling to help fix the finances..... does this insanityever stop? anyway that has passed for now and still going along gamble free and double digits tomorrow.

Target is to make the 1st of july and i will not let myself fall between now and then.

Can't believe how quickly the week has passed by. Crazy at work so no chance to think about betting.

The 2 euro coins are starting to build up a bit. Over two weeks now. Looking forward to the 1st July. I'm going to make it.
