welcome back weldy, but sorry your back if that makes sense,
34 days in myself and posting and reading is helping,
best wishes with your battle mate
Cheers Woody, a couple of days in and the dust has settled a little and the fog is lifting.
Going to sort out the garden tomorrow to keep the mind straight
Driving to work this morning feeling bartered and bruised by a glut of gambling that turned bad on me. I had been through a steady period of. controlled gambling that worked for about 8 months. But now feel a need to straighten myself out. Day 1 begins over for me once again, feeling angry and disappointed with myself
Good morning ,
The past is the past . Beating yourself up achieves diddly squat.
Today you woke up smelt the coffee and said enough is enough . For that you should pat yourself on the back, and throw the energy wasted on regret into fighting this addiction . You know the addiction feeds on negativity , so take it out of the equation .
Welcome back !
Shiny xx
Day 3 - Thank you Shiny for your welcome and wise words. The fog has lifted for me and I am feeling much better. I can smell the coffee!
Just trying to concentrate on the important things right now, to get on top of work and spend time that I was wasting on gambling doing useful things and spending it with the ones I love.
Weldy
Bad relapse yesterday and got the knot in my stomach and the guilt. We can't change yesterday - I've excluded from the one bookie I hadn't done so something positive came out of it. Good luck. Hope my fog clears.
Hi Weldy.. Glad to see that your back here with renewed determination. I do feel for some Cg's cos like you say, it can take months before the true consequences of the gambling become apparent. With me when ive relapsed I "do my money" very quickly and hence get back to recovery quickly. Sometimes I think that the worst thing that can happen to any Cg is a "winning streak" as it delays the inevitable.
Anyway, all the best, onwards and upwards... S.A
Day 5 - Anyone for Cricket? Just watching the cricket whilst quietly working away and then going to do some jobs around the house.
Thanks SA for your comments, glad to see you are still going strong
No gambling since Monday and feeling a lot better right now
Day 6 - all is good, the sun is shining and no thoughts of having a bet
Too much else to do on a day like this to waste my time sitting in front of a computer and giving my money away to someone else
Weldy
Hi Weldy,
Thanks for the post my friend.
Just caught up with your diary and sending you all the best. We're both as bad as each other by the look of things!! ;0)
Still, we are both still trying mate.
Keep strong
Ade
Lol Ade!
Yes we are mate! but as you say, still trying! lol
Day 7 - Safely negotiated and happy to be free of all of those thoughts and the fears that go with it!
Weldy
Day 8 - Working from home today and not once tempted to undo the week's good work as I have better things to do than waste my time and money. Starting to read a few diaries and trying to catch up with the diaries of some "old friends" on the forum
Weldy
Hi Weldy,
Keep strong my friend.
You do indeed have better things to do than waste your valuable time and money on gambling.
I personally found that once I lost the value of the money that I was recklessly throwing away on gambling the whole point of gambling just became totally pointless. It was no longer fun and became just a habitual chore at times.
Where's the fun in that eh??!!
Anyway, are you still playing gigs in your band. Now there's a much better way of using your time.
All the best
Ade
Day 10 - Double figures!
All going OK and wasting no more time on pointless gambling - Ade, I totally agree with your analysis of pointless gambling, it's just strange how when you are engrossed in the thick of it, you completely lose sight of things as they are, money is valueless (it's used like a pass to allow you to gamble) and you become this robotic habitual gambling wreck!
I am indeed still gigging on a regular basis on most weekends - about 40 gigs a year
Weldy
Affected by gambling?
