Hi,

I was on here when i had my 2nd gambling big loss but first time for 9 months on this site and i wanted to stop for good this time. I had a few relapses but with gamcare/counselling help and advice on here i haven't gambled since June 30th 2015.

I never use the term success as its an ongoing battle which i'm in the ceasefire stage and hope i never need to go back to battle again!

Had a few thoughts/dreams about gambling recently since i suffered a serious knee injury and had surgery, i felt low but never came close to gambling which is a great sign i'm on top of this addiction.

Just popped by to show it can be done, we can all stop gambling its hard not going to lie but a life without gambling is worth it, stay strong everyone thoughts with you all whether recovering or on the road towards it 🙂

Well done Tnsk, great to read when someone is winning for real. Remember this place is open 24/7 for those times when that nagging voice says one bet won't matter we all know it will.

Hi Tnsk,

Well done for abstaining for over a year, and also for sharing your story; a very inspirational one too! It’s nice and encouraging for other forum members to read such positive stories, and to make them aware that they are not alone, and that it’s possible for one to overcome one’s gambling problem .

This is what it means when one takes it one step at a time. Once you can do 1 day, you can move on to 1 week, 1 month, and then 1 year before you know it. You have to be strict with yourself though, by following our advice on strategies and boundaries. Also try and adjust your mind set to the fact that one can survive if one gives up gambling. Also, your story is a good example of that awareness.

Just as your determination has helped you to reach this stage, I hope those who read from your post will also benefit from it in a similar way.

Thanks once again for posting, and please keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Beatrice
