Day 655.

Rock bottom-losing everything? Not sure but I know that mentally I was at rock bottom 2 years ago. If I hadn't faced up to my problem, then yes, I probably would've lost everything.

Stopping gambling is hard, but we have to want to do it. How many times can we relapse? There must come a time when enough is enough, for me that was 21 months ago. The longer we abstain, the easier it gets, trust me. But it's not all great-one day at a time will do.

Well done on the 655 days Gazza.

re your post on Tomsos diary re 'if you value money you wouldnt gamble', can I add my view to this - I think valuing money is about ambition and what makes you tick i.e. if you have all you need e.g. a house, a job, a car, holidays etc and you dont have any ambition for say a better/bigger house, a better car, more elaborate possessions, holidays whatever, then where does the value of money concept come in? You can then spend your 'spare' money in whatever way you choose (not advocating you gamble it!) Say you didnt gamble it and didnt spend it in any other way and had a spare £50k in a savings account which ends up being given to dependants when you go or to charity if no dependants then I'd argue thats ok if you are happy and content but if you save the money instead of spending it while you are here on things which you want and would enhance your life then Im not so sure.

So anyway in my opinion ambition (or lack of) is key to valuing money so not as simple as if you value money you dont gamble, depends if what you are doing with your money instead is something which adds value to your life.

Gazza

Fella as always great to see you continuing to find the resolve to better your life through abstinence.

I totally get the point you are trying to convey my friend, that in it's simpliest terms whilst gambling compulsively we lose the 'value' of our hard earnt and through recovery find it again.

This of through experience has helped us to become more prudent with the hard earnt money we have, it is put to a use with an outcome.

As for rock bottom, I do not personally think this is financial, it is when emotionally we cant take losing any more, each loss destroys us until we admit defeat, then true recovery can begin.

Fella you keep making the right choice for you.

Made it to GA last night. Glad, as it was the last meet until 9th Jan.

Will be off-line for a while over the hols-Kinda glad as i've posted on some diaries that i wouldn't normally do-trying to help but have been taken out of context. quite simply I'm not bright enough to enter into these on-line debates!!!

Have a nice christmas everyone
