I looked over the first two and last two pages of that Dave. You did so well too nearly go 3 years without gambling. It shows you can do it. Just try and keep it up. You sound like you have a great income so just keep the head down and focus on other things and you will be debt free before you know it.

Thanks for the post mate it means a lot. I am just waiting for my plane to Spain, feeling ok ish but the debt is in my head today. Normally it would be a trigger to win some money and pay of my crest cards, yeah right how many times has that happened!!! Day 20 is going to be gamble free I promise

Day 22 - very happy to report I have not gambled today and feel In a much better place, nearly in control. But I have to stay on guard, as I know I have to try and better my 3 years gamble free. I am now at my wife's parent house until Wednesday with the family and have no access to gambling, so this gives me 5 days to think more about how to beat this demon. I am so focused and aware I have to beat it, and I will beat it

Day 23 - thanks for the post, it keeps me going! I had a dream last night that I went into the casino I saw in Spain, but after thinking About it I told myself to stop being a fool and I walked out. This is a reminder to me that I have to keep my guard up At all times. Just off to a wedding, so unless churches have FOBT machines in them I should be safe today! But knowing the betting industry it will not be long until they are in churches!!! Have a good day people and do not buckle please

Day 26 and I am happy to report I am still gamble free. Having had lots of time to think due to being away from home currently with the family, i know that I have many triggers to make me want to gamble. I also know I am the sort of person who becomes emotionally attached to things, even a fruit machine. Once I have invested in it, I seem to believe it owes me now, as we have an emotional connection, to anyone who does not gamble this will sound stupid, but I guess you guys will understand what I mean, under Your breath saying to the machine, come on please you owe me!! Crazy stuff, as I know it's a computer programmed to take our money with no emotional intelligence at all. I know I have to stop or I will lose my family and this is the most important thing to me. If I was unable to see my kids everyday or if they disliked me for gambling it would kill me, this has to be my main driver to continue to not gamble. Stay strong and remember there is only one winner of you gamble, and that is not you

Day 28 - back to reality today after being away for a week in Spain and France with work. It was easy not to gamble over there as I had no time and no access as I had the family with me. So today is my first real test since I decided to try and quit. I will keep my guard up and make sure I do not buckle, it's my promise to you all and my family. Wish me luck and I will update you all later

You didn't need luck staying safe when you went to Manchester, you don't need it now! 28 days of recovery under your belt now, no point starting @ 1 again!

I spent many years in Mr Gamble's arms whispering sweet nothings to an inanimate object or 3 & making all sorts of promises about what I would do if I just got that 'lucky break' only to stand & poke every penny of any such break straight back in. The only winners with this addiction are the people in recovery!

You have too much to lose to keep going back to that person you were 4 weeks ago!

Hi it does seem silly when we look back at the things we say to machines lol. Grown people begging this lump of metal an flashing lights to give us back our money! Making all sorts of promises if only, if only. Then either sneaking out if lost or waving at staff with smug smile if win it back! All the while itching to go back the next day. I should know better as used to work in an Arcade an would see the engineers fiddling around back of machines altering payout percentages. So keep posting an let's support each other an be winners in life. Take careMary
