Hi Jen
I am 34, had not played football for 2 years before I quit gambling now absoulotley loving it !!!! It is a way of getting away from gambling. When you read everyones diarys it is always the same people losing interests in hobbies, same as me. But I am back now and enjoying it more then ever. I am also thinking about a summer sport, maybe cricket? I have not played cricket since I was 15!! so who knows
Have a good weekend Jen, and now you know my age I have to ask yours ???!!!
hello dave,
totally agree with the hobbies thing... i used to be really into running and the gym... but alas gambling took over!!
i am 39... nearly 40..(ouch!!)... and have dusted off my old bike and started cycling again... i love it and the best thing about exercise is that it naturally lifts your mood!!
keep with the footie dave... cant possibly say you're too old for it now i know you're younger than me!!!
take care

Day 54 done
I have had a great day today, played football, had 6 or 7 pints now home and ready for bed!!!
Cannot type as too drunk!!!!!!!!
All I can say is I watched a bloke pump 50 pounds into the fruit machine in the pub then say he had to go home as he had no money!
Been there done that, no more ever. I hate the evil machines
full stop
Day 55 done
Good night allxxx
Day 56 (or 8 weeks) over!!!!!!!!!!!
not even thought of gambling today, which again is a positive, but also worries me just in case it creeps up on me, so defo will have to keep my guard up.
Been working so much more then when I used to gamble, and when I think at how littl eI actually worked in the past it scares me that I actuallly still have a job!!
So i was lucky to never get found out by my employers, for at least 5 hours every working day in a bookies, just nipping out to answer the odd call or to respond to an email on my phone. If thats you (as I used to see of other people doing this) I suggest you quit gambling befor eits to late, and you lose your job.
Sleep well all xx
PS - I have just thought only 2 more weeks then I have reached my goal of 10 weeks !!!!
Just had to come on and say I had a crazy dream last night, I was in a bookies playing FOBT roulette, and I was able to contril where the ball landed, I managed to win all the money back I had ever lost, I was soo happy in my dream. I am now awake and for some reason feel like I have failed, and that I gambled ?????
Like I said yesteerday I need to keep my guard up
It must of been a dream Dave as it would never happen in real life. Had a slip myself at the weekend, but back on the straight and narrow again this week. You think you have things under control then bang out of nowhere one can slip up. Keep resisting the urges Dave, your doing great, keep it up
Day 57 over rover!!
Thanks fo rthe info, very interesting indeed!!
After that strange dream last night, I have managed to re group and not buckle, that 10 weeks is getting closer by the day.
I am still really interested in getting a group together to fight the gambling laws in this country, and to get a national gambling ID card, so ideas would be appreciated.
Day 58 is done
Easy day today, been so busy and its left me thinking hoe did I ever manage to find time to gamble???
Not missing it one bit
Hi Dave,
Well done on still going strong
re getting a group together to fight the gambling laws, I'd like to join you on this one.I'm not sure about the gambling ID card as think, like most ID cards, this would be open to abuse - a whole lot of my daughter's 16 & 17 year old friends have fake ID cards which allow them to go to the pub!
It might sound really simplistic but I think a good start would be for D Cameron or MP's to just log on here and have a good read through diaries. I had a look through ' new members ' this morning and 'FOBT' theme coming up more and more every day.Our local MP is someone who has fought long and hard on a lot of local issues and, despite a lot of peoples' thoughts about Tories because of spending cuts, is someone who I know does personally respond to any correspondence so I've considered starting there. After all, this isn't a party political issue, it's something which is seriously affecting the health and wealth of thousands of people.
Just a thought anyway - let me know what you think
Cheers

Hi Kay
Thanks for the post, I have already conytacted my local MP and had no response back from them. However I think I will try again and give it one more try. I have also found this other website where there are more people like me and you who want to prevent people becoming addicts, however if I put the web address on here I think it will be blocked, so I will have to try and find a different way to share it with you. I agree with the ID card idea, but there has to be a simple way of excluding yourself from gambling (all places with one simple call, as opposed to filling in 50 forms)
Anyway day 59 is over without issue!!
Take care xx
Cheers Dave,
I'm on day 48 today off the FOBT's
Have to admit yesterday was tough as received final salary from ex-employer and it wasn't a lot so temptation was definitely there to 'top-up' but walked past all 5 bookies in town, did all the mundane stuff - bit of food shopping, paid mobile bill etc. Treated myself to manicure as thought that would be small step to looking more presentable for, hopefully, some job interviews.
It's very cliched but it really is all about taking one day at a time and never allowing yourself to think you've cracked the compulsive side and that ' a few quid won't make any difference' as fell into that trap before.
Think I will write to or e-mail local MP and will let you know if I get any response.
Enjoy the weekend!

Day 60 came and went without an issue!!
But I did have the same dream last night about winning on Roulette in the bookies, and paying off all my debt. Its strange because I did not think about gambling once all day, but as soon as I go to bed I dream about it ????????
dont fret dave... it was only a dream!!
well done opn your 60 days...
keep it up

Day 62 over!!
Been an easy day again, just chilling with the family and making the most of mothers day.
I am working away this week, so it will be a new test again. But I am sure I will come back home nearer to my 70 day target!!
Take care all
