Good morning friends, felt the urge to write today as I have reached another milestone. 150 days have passed since my last bet. I want to offer support to you all out there and to reassure you that it does become easier as time passes. I was gambling huge amounts of money on sports and doing well but it all came crashing down and finally enough was enough. I knew in my heart that I wanted to stop and think that is the first step to recovery. You have to stop because you want to not because others want you to. You have to be honest with those closest to you, gambling thrives on secrecy. You have to remove access to money, I got rid of my cards and overdraft, the only money I have is enough to pay the bills. As the days tick by the urges have still been there but because all these things were in place, it was almost impossible to act on those feelings. So to all my struggling fellow addicts, You can do it, it is hard work but my god is it nice to feel at peace especially at this time of year. Here for anyone if they need to chat and keep working hard xx

Well done JG, reading posts like yours shows that it can be done, thankyou for the inspiration.

One important point you made is that you have to WANT to stop. Many people NEED to stop gambling (debts, unpaid bills etc.) but if you don't WANT to stop then you won't succeed.

Enjoy the freedom of being GF 🙂

Hi Jasminegolf

Excellent read and many congratulations on 150+ days GF. Something for all us to aim for and as Phil83 says you have to WANT to stop for it to work or you will just slip back into the gambling world, something I personally DO NOT WANT !!

All the Best

Darren
