Hi all, new to this forum and have read through a few peoples messages. Havent quite worked out how to start a new message , anyone able to tell me how to do this? What i have learned from the first few messages i have read is that us, eg the wife/partner/husband of the gambler seem to be affected more by gambling than the actual gambler is. Right now, i feel like packing my bags and leaving.................if only it was that easy. Right up until yesterday i told myself i would stay for another 5 years until my son was 16, he adores his dad....I dont think i will last that long.

To the people who are saying they must be weak or thought they were strong. Believe me, you are stronger than you think to be dealing with this and still carrying on with your "normal" life. I have been doing it for years and its only coming on here tonight ive realised its not only me. I will post my story when i learn how to start a new thread.

Hi Caroline, thank you for commenting on my thread earlier. It's amazing how much we try to endure for our children and their relationships. It's just so tough riding this rollercoaster... it feels tedious and emotionally draining. I do hope what ever choice you make you will have lots of support around you and your son. I also hope that your husband will start taking a path towards ending his addiction. He stands to loose a lot!

Oh btw...To post a new thread you go back to the list of topics and scroll right to the bottom. There you will see a button that says 'new topic'. click on it and a blank thread will open where you can add a title (which appears as the new topic in the family friends section). When you click Save it posts the new thread. I hope my instructions make sense!

Hi jhoser, I tried to reply this morning but for some reason it wouldn't work. I did however eventually work out how to start a new post but thanks for trying to help. You're dead right about this being emotionally draining, it's a nightmare! Hubbys still working his socks off to pay me back and he's shattered looking, that worries me , he is always so tired and always working but the money he gave me over a few days just shows me he was probably earning a lot more and spending it in the bookies. However he swears he hasn't been near the bookies since that happened on Tuesday and I have no way of knowing if he had or not, I'll just need to take his word for it until I find out different I suppose. Who knows, maybe we both will have a better week with them this week. Hope you are keeping ok X
