Hi everyone. I'm sure it's pretty boring reading all these new introductions. Its quite alarming how many there are.

I'm just here to say I've been 'trying' to stop gambling for about 8 years now. I'm only 29. Failed everytime.

Going to try and control my urges by posting on here... Sorry to bore.

Hello,

Intros are not boring. They are our stories. They might be very similar (thats why we are all here) but they are us. Im also 29. If im fully honest with myself this is my first real effort at trying to stop. Yes i have tried many times in the past but i wasn't trying enough. I just wanted to stop losing. I wanted to stop getting deeper in debt but i didn't want to stop gambling really, i wasn't ready until now.

What have you done to stop your ability to gamble? Told people close to you? What blocks have you put in place? self excluded? handed over access to finances? Blocking software for online? Counselling and/or GA meetings?

There is a lot of help out there if we want it. You can do it and people here will offer you help and support if you want to take that too. I hope you do and i hope we can all move forwards gamble free.

Never worry about the length of your posts or about "rambling". If it helps you write it down!

All the best.

all the best

Hi addicted gambler

Your story is similar to mine , I’ve been doing well since making that big step to say enough is enough, you feel better in a matter of weeks when you remove gambling from your life, use this forum to share on how your doing , we’re all going through this together.

Yea I've had a few stints of not gambling, but nothing major. I've self excluded from all online casinos... But of course once we get paid, the money only goes one way, I'm sure a lot of us can relate to that.

I leave myself skint on payday or the day after, then wait another 4 weeks to get paid.

I take out payday loans to help facilitate my gambling. Fed up of paying interest. Recently saved over £1000 and paid off a credit card... But just annoyed with myself for letting it get this bad.
