Good morning people,
Today marks my 50th day GF, life is starting to feel kind of normal again for me. The massive feeling of anxiety, mood swings, feeling distant from my family & the sleepless nights are starting to fade.
The urges are still with me every day but I am finding the right frame of mind to bypass the need to place a bet, for the sake of my family & future.
The only thing that hurts the most now is the massive amounts of money I have lost & the stupidity I feel for allowing myself to borrow on the mortgage & rack up massive loan debts. But like with anything there has to be a beginning & an end, nothing lasts forever & l wasn’t prepared to let this awful addiction ruin my life forever.
I have had many relapses in the past, where I have had a few days without a bet & then returned but on this occasion I have told myself from the start “I HAVE TO & WANT TO QUIT” previously I didn’t want it enough, I didn’t take it seriously enough to want to quit. But it was a case of stop now, or I lose my home, my wife, my kids & everything good in my life.....is gambling going to take those precious things away from me?.....NO not anymore.
We all make mistakes in life, some big some small & like us all on here this has been a big one for us. But the one thing we do have is a chance to put it right, one step at a time in the right direction & soon we will be right where we want to be. Happy & gamble free!!
The 3 D’s is what gets me through when I am having an urge...dedication, determination & discipline & that is what I say in my head when the urge comes.
If you truly want this, we can do this people, let’s beat this before it beats us.
