Hi, my name is Harvey and I feel life must be better than this. Can't believe I have let gambling into my life for so long but it's the buzz u get when u win that keeps me their. But no matter how much you win you lose much more and when I lose I feel so low and disgusted with myself cause I know that money should go on other things. You don't think like that cause your always looking for the next win and when you do put it all back on and much more. You look forward to payday just so you know you have more money to bet with. I've been betting for the last 3 years but it's gotten worse and I want out. I don't want to lose my Mrs but she is hanging on in there just. U make excuses to disappear for a bet, I'm always on the phone betting but saying to her I'm searching for things for us when all I'm doing is chasing bets. Thought I was strong in mind but how wrong am I. I could go on forever but we all have things to deal with.
Hi Harvey
Welcome to the forum, yes life can be better but it can take some time, I would suggest just trying one day at a time. The buzz of gambling is momentary but the damage from the gambling can have far reaching consequences as you have mentioned. Try using a blocking software for your phone device to help you with your online gambling. http://www.netnanny.com
I would also urge you use our services to support and encourage you in your recovery. We have a recovery diary section on this forum that you might find useful.
Please also take a look at our free counselling, we offer an online or face to face service. It is a confidential space for you to talk. http://www.gamcare.org.uk/counselling
All the best

Hello Harvey
This is the best place to come if you want to share your feelings and experience because people on here understand and will support and offer advice as above so don't be afraid to write longer posts. I am the parent of a gambler and if you were my son I would say to you try not to tackle this on your own at home. It may be better to actually tell your partner/wife so that she may be able to take over your finances and your phone. It is never too late to start putting this right but it helps to let the secret out and let people know as that is a deterrent in itself. Gam care counsellors are a great way of getting advice on self-exclusion/blocking tc and if you have debts they can put you on the right track. If you speak to them first and get all the info and organise a plan to sort this then it is then a lot easier to confide in people at home. It shows you are making an effort and you will start to feel better about yourself. Good luck.
Hi Harvey,I live in Stoke on Trent I've been seeing a Gamcare counsellor for 2 weeks now and it is starting to give me a direction and hope for the future I've been gambling online for around 3 years now,as always I won £4200 on betway online slots and been losing ever since.i blocked and set up over 60 accounts, have had many wonga loans.i know losing is awful but ring Gamcare Asap!!
