Hi all,
Â
I've been gambling since I was 18, now 24. Enough is enough! I have relapsed so many times but there is something different about this one.
I feel in a very dark place but, I know I can get through this. 1 year gamble free and 2 days ago I found a way to gamble again.Â
The feeling of guilt and realisation of what I have done I will never get over, financial debt and worries basically ruined my future.
Thought I would share as I'm new to this forum and no matter how low I feel or anyone feels, you are not alone!
Hi,
Many gambler on here dream of reaching a year without a bet. You've done that! Incredible! You can do it again. Seek out new strategies and blocks.

Dear @freshstart123,
I’m concerned to hear that you are in a very dark place at the moment. I appreciate you feel really disappointed about the relapse, especially because you’ve done so well being gamble-free for an entire year. Unfortunately relapses can happen. The main thing is to learn from them. Analise the black box so to say. What led to the crash? What triggered your urges? This is crucial knowledge that you can take forward with you.
Well done on reaching out on your first Forum post and it being so honest. This shows that the work you’ve done over the past year was solid and although it might not feel like it right now, it is still solid. You are here, you are talking about it, you are positive and you are just getting back on the wagon. The very best way forward. It is also a kind gesture to think that it will help others who may identify with your story and give them hope or least help them feel not so alone.
I would recommend you call the National Debtline on 0808 808 4000 for debt advice and our Helpline 0808 8020 133 to have a one-to-one conversation with an advisor to discuss what happened and see how we can support you going forward.
Wishing you all the very best,
Â

What triggered me to bet again was looking for that big win, chasing my losses so I can pay my family back.
I appreciate the replies, I've been clear for 1 year before, 3 days kn to to be gamble free for the rest of my life.
Hi firstly well done on being a year gamble free. Don't let this lapse become a major relapse. It's so easy to start chasing the loses and we all know that gets you deeper into despair. Try to understand what made you gamble again and more importantly learn from it. Not sure if you have tried GA but look up your local group, get as much support as you can from whatever source and remember you can do this one day at a time.
