Hi, my name is Kirk and I’ve been gambling for as long as I can remember.
it’s not just taken a hold on my life but for those closest to me.
recently, I guess over the past few months I’ve hit rock bottom to the point where I’ve had thoughts of ending it all.
2 days ago I jumped on a train with the intention of getting as far away as possible and ending it all. Luckily for me it didn’t work and my partner thankfully brought me home.
my partner found a note I’d left and is understandably livid and broken hearted with my actions and deceit over a long period of time.
I’ve just registered with a GP but can take 3 days to set up so here I am in the meantime.
my partner for all that i have done is willing to stand by me and without her I would be lost.
she is taking control of my life as I am not able to.
it’s no lie that I’m in bad shape right now but for the first time in forever I can see an end goal and I haven’t even started my journey yet.
so as of Monday/tues I will be making an appointment with my GP and seeking counselling for my issues.
any advise in the meantime would be very much appreciated.
thank youÂ
kirk
Hi Kirk,
Thank you for sharing your post and for being so honest about how you are feeling.
I am really sorry to hear you are feeling like this, but you should feel proud for making the first steps in seeking support.
It’s good to hear that you are scheduling a GP appointment to speak about this, as this is something we would recommend.
It’s important to know that there are services out there to support you if you are feeling suicidal. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123, and other ways to contact them can be found here: https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help/contact-samaritan/ .
The forum is a great place for peer support, and as I’m sure you will find out, there is lots of advice, support and encouragement to help you with your journey.
Can I also suggest that you contact the GamCare Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or Netline to explore the additional support that is available to you. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you would like to talk to one of the GamCare HelpLine advisers.
You’re not alone and we’re here to support you.
Take care,
Forum Admin
