I am 32 year old Female with along Term partner and 15 year old son . I work full time and my Partner works Full time .

I had a Grievance with My work place back in 2012 . This quickly Led to me suffering with work related stress and quickly followed Depression and Suicidal thoughts .

I was off work for 8 weeks and started using online Gambling (Mainly Bingo Sites) Little did I realise at the time that illness /Mental health issues and Gambling do not go hand in hand and quickly I had an addiction .

I got several credit cards to fund the addiction and was allowed by the banks to go over the £1,000 / £1,500 limits on my cards No questions asked . This quickly mounted to over £20,000 .

I do take full responsibility for spending and my addiction . Suffering with Mental health issues you DONOT logically think and do not make rational decisions.

I went back to work and a year later raised the Grievance again and was off for a further 6 weeks .

I just felt low and would gamble to try escape my issues . This led me further in to debt and led me to cut my arm . I thought so many times of ending it all to try make all my problems go away .

I managed to build my courage up to go to the doctors for help . I was assessed and referred for counselling . I was let down on the first session and the counsellor cancelled . I could not build my self up to go again .

I found someone in my local paper who was a recovered Gambler and he charged me to do some counselling . This did not work and I was still having a flutter 3 years later .

I have now managed to get some Free counselling with a gambling counsellor .

I Did write to my local MP to ask for help to stop the advertising of these Gambling sites .He wrote to government and It was a "We can't do anything" .

This is because the Government get 2 MILLION from Gambling so WHY would they do anything to help .

I am passionate and want to help others and try stop the aggressive advertising from 9am until late . Drugs , Alcohol and s*x would NOT be advertised before the water shed but it is okay to advertise Gambling and destroy people's life's . NO ITS NOT .

I understand some people play bingo , slots , gambling okay no issues . But most people have a problem and this destroys life's and family's and even drives people to suicide .

My Petition to STOP Gambling aggressive Advertising At Change.org (Kelly Field)

I am receiving councelling from Beacon Councelling services , My story went in the Papers 13.3.15 and you can find this on google as Kelly Neild (spelling mistake by paper)
I was on good morning Britain 17.3.15 .
I have written to the PM and my local MP I want to change legislation and get Gambling adverts OFF TV at least before 9pm .
Iwant to also challenge credit card company's about their irrisponsible lending and try work with them to help them in turn help Vulunerable people .
I hope by putting my story out there it helps others to Get help , speak out and start the recovery process .
I am going to college to do a counselling course and then hoping to work in the field of counselling/gambling .
I have a Twitter account Kfield82and am also on facebook kelly field .

Noble cause. I wish you success. I often wish we were back in the 1700's where we can tar and feather these establishment owners. And then of course, burn down the building. But we are not back in those times. *sigh*

I have a lot going on at the moment in terms of challenging issues . I am and will continue my fight and realise I will NOT banish gambling sites but the advertising off the TV before 9pm is a start . Watch this space .

Hi

I think you do realise that its linked to depression and feeling worthless. I agree that the help on offer through the doctors can be a bit naff but you have to pursue that avenue.

You are worth more than money so start with that thought. You can only pay back what you can afford and the money you have lost is gone. Dont even think of chasing that. It wont come back even slowly

Tell the people close to you. Get the words out. Ive got to come in with tough love. You need to sort yourself out first even though your aims to ban gambling are laudable.

There is too much money involved to ban gambling. Thats the sad reality and it ruins lives.

It wont ruin your life anymore because you are seeking help to tackle it

I have reported markashif posts he is clearly here to encourage gambling and not here because he wants support for being a gambler.

A human spam bot imo.
