Hi whatsmyname, I am ok. I just want to find a way to stop this gambling. Its a long story why I started but the condensed version is I lost my Husband when I was 59. The age thing is bit of grey area. It was too young to be left alone. He was such a lovely man, we were soul mates and best friends. I was a Nurse most of my life, and nursed my Husband at home. The last few months were particulary hard and thats when I discovered these gambling sites. In the evening when my Husband was sleeping and I felt quite exhausted it became by bit of "me time." I kept the losses from Family who I felt would find it hard to understand that at a time when I should be careful with what I had, I was throwing it away. I never looked at it like, in a stupid way I actually thought it was helping me. Since my Husband passed, 6 years now, I have continued to play whenever I have spare money, but the truth is its not spare money. I cannot remember how many times I have moved Direct Debits to another date because I have lost the money been left in for them. I have ordered on line shopping and then lost some of that money so had to cancel it. Recently I lost so much I was not sure how I would manage and nearly collapsed when I was out through the worry. It was that I think that made me look into Gamcare. Thankyou for listening x

Hi Cassie51, I have registered with GameStop as well as self excluding from all the accounts I had for the maximum time they allow.

Have a read of the link posted above.

I am finding the counseling sessions sooo valuable. Also I have a diary post and that's really helpful to. I read it back to see how far I have come and to help keep me in check.

Still early days for me but am much more positive about the future.

Hi Chister, Thankyou. Was feeling really positive yesterday. Went on Gamstop and pressed exclusion for 5 years. Not sure why but today I have woke up. I feeling very anxious. I think I never realised how much I relied on this awful gambling. Its not just the on line slots I used to play Bingo as well. You get to know the players and the hosts. I do have a lovely supportive Family but they all work and have Families. The Gambling, and these people, filled a void and I think that is why I am feeling anxious. I think I will try Counselling, it may help. Hope everything is going ok with you x

Hi Cassie you call gamcare and talk to someone. Ask for counselling, if you qualify, which I'm sure you will, they set it up. There's always GA, find a meeting, lots of real life support there too.

Hello Cassie, first thing. We have all been there. You are NOT alone. A tip for you that works for me....each day at the start of the day I log on here and view some of the diaries/introduction forums stories. This REALLY helps me say "I'm not going to gamble today" reading other peoples woes just fortifies your mind not to gamble. I wish you well, don't stop checking in here. It'll support you.
