Hello to all of you on here. I have been meaning to get help for the last few months but I've now decided to take action and seek some guidance.

Over the last six months my gambling has been out of control and I've ended up losing between £7,000 - £8,000. It's money I had in savings and I'm deeply annoyed about it. As you can guess, I started losing and chased my losses, which meant losing more.

I know I have to stop gambling or I will end up losing everything. I hope this forum is a good place to come and talk about things.

Take care and I hope to hear from you.

Hello Teekay and welcome to Gamcare 🙂

Firstly, well done on stopping when you did before you could do even more damage. Many people arrive on this forum having done themselves in completely, bringing debt with them. So kudos for stopping when you did.

You’ve completed step 1 which is to acknowledge you have a problem with your gambling.

What, may I ask, did you use to gamble on? Bookies, casino online, all of those etc? There are exclusions you can use for all those I’ve mentioned.

GamStop (online self exclusion) especially is an absolute game changer as it completely eliminates the option of gambling online for a period of 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.

You’ll also find that it helps to regularly update your diary and to log your day to day thoughts down on here.

Best wishes on your journey to recovery mate.

Dan

Thanks Dan. My major losses were on football betting, but I also used to gamble on other sports as well. I always used to gamble online.

I will make sure to come on this site regularly.

Then google GamStop and sign up to that. It’s an online self exclusion tool. Totally eliminates the ability to gamble online.
