Hi I did post here 1 time before a while back. But was not commited. I am a member of Gambling Therapy where I have had some great support. I am male 40 odd years of age. Lost absolutly everything through my addiction. Homes, business, relationship(s) the lot. I have nothing in the way of money or worldly goods and I am up to my balls in debt. I can not even afford to go bankrupt. But I am determined to overcome my addiction. I have no choice. It really is a matter of life or death. So again my journey begins. I look forward to meeting and interacting with others here on this forum.

Welcome back to the Forum.
The word determination that you used in your post is the key to recovery. Well done for reaching that point this time, we are all here to support you. It sounds like you looked at the two option you mentioned, 'life or death'. and you have chosen life, and have decided to begine your journey again. It seems to me that you have taken all the right steps this time, being in Therapy is one of them.
What you did not mention is what you gamble on and where you gamble. There are stratergies that we can look at with you that you can put in place to make it less easier for you to gamble or to stop if that is what you want to do. If you have not contacted our Netline /Helpline, you can call us and speak to an advisor who will look at these stratergies with you, and sign post you to other places that you can get help for some of the issues you mentioned; i.e Debt.

My main form of gambling is online casinos. Slots. Mostly. With sometime spent also now in the bookmakers which is a worrying development for me. For years I managed to stay away from those places. There is only 1 in my local small town so I will at some point in the next 24 hours go down there and self exclude. Not looking forward to it as it will be embarresing but it needs to be done. It is too easy to give in especially as they placed the bookmakers conviently between 2 pubs.
I have also self excluded from every casino I play at online. 1 account is still open but am about to send an email off to self exclude from there also. I will be calling the netline a little later today. Thanks again for the welcome

Youve made the right choice. Your still young enough mate and you can move on from this.

Good luck Deeno , I 'm sure you will defeat it . I'm new as you know , but have found yours and others post very inspiring . It has giving me a kick up the backside before I ruin everything and my life . I just wish life didn't have to be so cruel , I know that we are only responsible for what we do but it is an Illlness from what I've researched . I self blame all the time but I come to realise that , that is part of it . The more I read the more I wisen up . It's good to know we can sopport each other . It's made me feel a whole lot better educating myself and given me the drive I need to stop right now . And I still haven't been the bank lol . I feel better just not giving in to my urges , infact it's great . I know it will be hard but I remember when I didn't go for a while, life was so much better . I'm going to try and hang on to that ! You can always rebuilt your life no matter what . It may seem far away or that from time to time you will feel down because of what you have lost but , you are alive , life starts now .
I no money isn't everything but it does help but what matters more is that u have inner peace and happiness . I found a relaxation cd on you tube and it really helped . Try to look within , try to take time to think of when you where happy without gambling . That's what I'm doing now ! It's working for me but it might not be 4 u . It's worth a try . HI Gary thanks for your post. And yes it is the right choice ... for us all here. I am pleased you are getting strenght from this site. Its important to get as much support as you can. Somone on another forum told me to keep the "Box of tools" full and close at hand. This place is one of those tools. Keep quitting!

Hi its really good you have not been to the bank! If you can do this today then you can do this tomorrow. And yep money is not everything but without it life can be harder especially when we had money and know we have just blown it all ... when we give in to our destructive addiction. Try not over self blame. Move forward from that. what is done is done. Then take the next step. You have already taken a few and this is positive! rooting for you and thanks for your own message of support here!
