I've been gambling for a couple of years now, but recently I've realised it's become a serious issue. I'm gambling money I can't afford to lose and putting myself into debt. I need help in stopping all this before it all becomes too late.
Hi Dean.
You have made the first step in quitting this terrible addiction. Well done. I am 3 days into opening up and admitting I have a problem. Just reading the forum s will inspire you to give up mate. Can you give a little more info regarding your gambling eg. Ehat type or where you do it?
For me its one day at a time.
Regards
steve
Hi Steve thanks for the reply, I'm 22 years old and have now been gambling for about 2 years. My bets are all roulette whether it be machine/ online. I find myself losing £100/200 a a few times a month which to me is a huge amount of money and money I work hard for. I feel I need to stop this all before it's too late! Thanks I just need that push to help me to stop, I hope at this point I will never look back. Thanks
Hi dean. The amount of money is irrelevant as I Don't think anyone can afford to loose money. I did 3k on monday in the bookies on a roulette machine and although about 1/2 that was winnings from previous visits I still felt sick because it was the most I had wver lost in one hit. At 22 you have plenty of time but need to stop it now and not 20 years down the line like me. Although when i was your age online gaming didn't exist. Its to easy these days. I would self exclude yourself from any betting shop u use and download k9 software to stop access to gaming site. This would be a start. To be honest just reading the forums and listening to the stories of other gamblers has put me off for life. Keep in touch mate.
Steve
Hi Dean - First of all, well done for admitting you have a problem and for joining the site.
As Steve has said, you will find lots of inspiring stories here and you will realise that you are not alone. There is great support and encouragement here as well as very practical advice for beating this horrible addiction.
If you haven't already done so, put some barriers between you and the temptation to gamble, i.e. self-exclude from all online sites and install a blocking programme such as K9 (free). This will help a lot.
Good wishes to you on your journey.
Joanna
