I have an addiction

I can only talk in my journey as an affected other. My husband has a gambling addiction and is now in recovery. There are some very helpful people out there who can help you start that recovery journey. I really hope you can find the correct help for you.

same boat as you been in a real love hate relationship with gambling for a few years now and lost a lot of money and put myself in quite a bit of debt. 

Im only 21 and trying to get myself back on track day by day. 

I had a period of about 5-6 months where I didn’t gamble at all and one thing I will say is a remember my bank looking healthier and I felt more alive then I ever have gambling. Just take it day by day sign up to GAMSTOP and self exclude yourself from any non uk based gambling sites. 

I felt like rubbish last night and have been for a while but after reading others stories I know I’m not alone in this. 

Somebody else on a forum mentioned a guy on YouTube called ODAAT (One day at a time) who’s a recovering gambler and he documents his journey and has other people on his channel who are/have suffered from gambling and I find his videos can be quite reassuring if you’re looking for some guidance. 

But all in all mate just stick your head down and work as much as you can and then in a year or so time you can reflect back on this as a rubbish time in your life. And as I said earlier then 5-6 months I stopped I felt so much more alive so that’s what I’m aiming for. Good luck to you

Hi Minor! How is it going? Did you download Gamban and sign up to Gamstop? 

This will be a life long challenge, but if you are willing to take it on I guarantee we will be happier healthier and wealthier than you ever would be in active addiction, and I would say that makes it worth the struggle.
