Well, after spending the past 3 years gambling (not on a major scale) I have now come to the point were I feel possessed that I have to persist and gamble, every time I have a spare second I'm on some kind of website gambling. I've signed up to that many different websites, I probably couldn't even count them all. I get emails of of 100's of website every day with new promotions (unsubscribed to most now).

I have also spoke to my girlfriend at length about everything and my problems, and she has be the best and so helpful, she has now changed all my passwords to my accounts (even though i can just speak to an advisor and change it) but hey, it's a start.

Tonight was the night I have finally had the last straw, spoke to my parents about the situation and they have also been understanding (I still feel like I can go on some website and play, maybe I am an addict?)

Anyway, I've finally decided that I genuinely want to stop before nothing gets to serious. I have read some horror stories about people and gambling but I've also read some delightful stories of people who have changed for the better, and I know I can aswell.

I felt kind of stupid posting about this, and not really sure what to say or write about, but i'm on here, sharing my sad story. I guess it's a start! If anyone has any advice, that can really keep me strong, I'd love to know.

Hi

You need to block yourself from these sites rather than change passwords. Self Exclusion is your only option. Also you have to hand over your money to someone else. Good Luck stay on here maybe try a GA meeting.

Hi Dozy - there's nothing stupid about your post, on the contrary - you have been wise enough to face your problem and seek help.

When you read other people's stories here you will see that you are certainly not alone, either in what you are feeling right now and also the fact that there are people here to give you support and encouragement. Michael's advice is good - self-exclude from everything you can. Also try to log on to this site as much as possible to keep up the momentum of your decision to rid yourself of this soul-destroying habit.

Good wishes.

Joanna
