Hi there

Ive been gambling online slots for 4 years, never won anything.

for me its not even about winning, its about having complete peace for hours, to not think about anything else except the reels on the screen. No matter what it costs, the peace I get is priceless.

I have now become a compulsive gambler, where spending hundreds of pounds a day is something I dont even think about, until the game stops.

Im left with no money, the peace has gone and my mind races on how im going to afford to eat for the next month.

Im 25 years old with a succesful career, and never did I think Id be in this position.

What happened to me.

I lost my self control, I began to think I didnt have a problem, I know when stop but I dont and I do have a problem

Im here to try and come to terms with why I started and most importanlty how to stop.

Hey ByronJ, welcome to recovery 🙂

This is a great place to start but escape gambling is a mask for other issues & you may want to consider other options to try & address the root of your problem(s), maybe GA or counselling (Gamcare can help wth this)! If it helps @ all, many of us have kept up facades of happy families & successful careers etc because this particular addiction thrives on secrecy! It accepts everyone & favours none & the reason I didn't start looking for help until my 40's was because "it couldn't happen to me"! Ha, what a joke, me so sensible that I was too arrogant to accept it whilst I threw every insult going @ my mother who has nursed this for about double my 3 decades 🙁 Good on you for recognising it while you still have your whole life ahead of you!

We cannot win because we cannot stop but if you choose a way to break your Time-Money-Location triangle, this will prevent you from being able to gamble! Gambling got you into to this hell, it won't get you out...Recovery can! You need to draw a line under your losses & I would also suggest getting some financial advice & soon as pay day loans are unforgiving.

There are lots of tools between these pages, read & learn & find what works best for you then One Day At A Time work towards your future!
