Today I stopped gambling . After year and year and thousands of pounds down the drain I have finally sought help . Been to see my GP ,registered for therapy and self excluded from all online gambling sites , my depression and anxiety have been through the roof the last few months and I was on verge of a breakdown , feel so ashamed , sitting here with nothing to do with my time now wondering how I can fill the big void in my time .Â
Welcome to the diaries Jennie.
It is not easy for a compulsive gambler to stop gambling but many people on the diaries have proved that it can be done. Gamcare friends are usually very understanding and give encouragement and plenty of good advice whilst being non judgemental and supportive.
I wish you well as you set out on your gamble-free journey and hope it is a wonderful adventure for you. Many people recovering from gambling addiction say that their lives improve as time goes on.

Good luck Jennie I’m starting my journey today to a better life.Â
we can do this.
Hi Jennie - I've not gambled for around 100 days now; I dont keep an exact day of when I did as lots of stress blurred the days between then an my addiction being discovered by family. It gets easier as time goes by but I know that that demon is still somewhere in my head and that it could come out at any time. As with you I was on the verge of a breakdown - mostly due to the sure knowledge that one day it would all be found out that today or tomorrow could be the day.
Good luck and chat on here I hope.
