Hey all I’m Mel, been a gamble addict for the last 11 years. Lost so much more than I’ve ever won, but kept going back to escape reality and to get a quick dopamine fix. I lost 1k yesterday so know I have to make some changes. Just installed gamban, as I gambled on international sites, I’ve blocked my card from gambling sites & I’ve been referred for therapy. I’m gonna let this be the last time I ever feel like this and have to struggle for money. Getting payday loans just to survive and having to pay back double because of stupidity.
Hello Rammelmel
Thank you for sharing this on the Forum,
It sounds from your description that you have an accurate and realistic view of your circumstances now and have already made some excellent changes such as blocking your bank card. Sometimes it may be putting safeguards in place to help you to stop gambling and sometimes it may be spending time being kinder to ourselves. You are not alone if escapism was one of the reasons for your gambling and it is understandable to try and reflect on why this has happened.
Wishing you the best on your recovery journey,
Louise
