It really is possible to stop from a personal level I have not gambled in over 60 days I was at it every single day. It was the only thing on my mind, now it just pops up every now and then but I can push it to one side a lot easier than I could. 

Once you managed to stay away from it for a short period of time and weather the gambling thoughts, early on you’re taking massive steps in your recovery. Just take everyday as it comes and everyday you don’t gamble be massively proud of yourself.

Yes you are all very welcome and the forum is a great help. You can pour out your thoughts and use the chat room.

You can phone a Gamcare counsellor and keep doing that until you feel more ready to act on the tried and trusted advice.

You can use this forum to focus, learn and keep learning.

A key sign that you are finally ready is when telling loved ones becomes top of your agenda. It just seems right whether its hard or not...get the words out....They wont come out like you planned them but get them out and then the real talking can begin.

Secrets will destroy you...they are ultimately no good at all. They dont save anyone when bank balances and missed holidays scream the truth. They dont save anyone when you are pent up and miserable inside. They dont save you and they dont save your family.

Your family can see that you are stressed and  snappy for example...they need to know the real reasons about addiction. 

Its the worst addiction I know about. This is no game about a silly flutter. It controls people for all their lives until it is properly faced. It kills people that just don't know what is going on any longer. They are literally going out of their minds until they cant handle living on this planet

It needs a government health warning and all advertising should be banned. It should be heavily regulated as a build up to a total ban in my view. Certainly limits should be enforced and rapid repeat play outlawed.

There is no shame in admitting it got to you. You are one in a countless number of people. I feel its in the millions of people going down with this horrendous addiction.

Thanks guys . I just needed a bit of time out to reflect, I haven't had a gamble of any kind since I made this post but have spent most of that time thinking about the mess I've got myself in.
