Hello,

i have been gambling for the last 3-4 years. At first it was football bets etc, then it moved onto online roulette and blackjack. A few months ago I lost £1000 online and I felt like my world had ended. I worked hard for that money and I lost it all in the space of a few hours. I told my girlfriend and told her that I would never gamble again.

A few months on and I have been saving for my first deposit. I saved £5000 and was happy with how everything was going. Then a few days ago I gambled it all away. I started with loosing £50, then £200, then £500 and so on. I can't even begin to describe how I feel. I am so stressed out thinking about it. Every day I think about the money I had and then think about what I have done. I can't tell my girlfriend as it would be too much for her to cope with as she is still studying at uni. I just wanted to post online to get some support and talk to others who have been in similar situations.

I am so scared that if I start saving that I will gamble my savings away again. How will I ever get a mortgage if my bank accounts shows £5000 being withdrawn to a gambling site.

Open a savings account with a notice period so you can't withdraw it and use it for gambling. Put it in a long term bond. There are options.

Sounds identical to my story. The best thing you can do is forget that money. Trying to get it back will only increase the pain, TRUST ME. You clearly have a gf who cares about you a lot and would do anything for you. We all make bad choices, it's about what we do to rectify them.

Bare this in mind next time you have to urge to gamble again..

"As one person you cannot change the world, but, you can change the world of one person".

You do the right things that you know are for the good of you, your family and your gf by not gambling and you can improve your whole life. Prove to yourself and everyone around you, that you have the will power to do this. Take small steps, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Take care mate
