Hi everyone - my addiction to online Roulette has brought me here. Or really I should say my inability to stop playing it has brought me here.

I'm tired of fooling myself, convincing myself I don't have a habit or thinking I can easily control it. I realise it can get so much worse unless I take steps to control it now. There's always so much more damage to be done.

It was an eye-opener for me when 2 days gf seemed like a lifetime before I logged back in for another 'final attempt' to win back my money. A predictable pattern.

I've spent a few days reading through the forum and there's so much support here and fantastic advice.

I've started a recovery diary - so I can keep a track of my behaviour and hope it helps to keep my intentions strong when I get the urge to gamble again.

I've registered at about 15 online gambling sites - but all on cool off - I will aim to close them when they reopen. Next one reopens in a few weeks I think. I've lost track.

I'm genuinly tired of gambling - I want to get that sense of my life being my life again, my money being my money, my time being my time. I want to put my focus to where it matters.

From what I've learnt reading the posts in the forum is it's taking things very much at a day at a time. And that's what I'm going to do.

This really is a great site and I'm so glad I found it.

One thing I believe that is vital in tackling this problem is support of others. One way to get some support straight away is to go to your local GA meeting, its bascially like this forum but in person, which is beneficial as we have to say these thigns out loud to someone. You will get great advice there also. Ideally if we have some one close, (a partner, girlfriend/boyfriend, or family member) who we can tell and ask for help as if you can have someone who can take control of your finances it is a massive help as you will get the urge and if you have access to money its almost inevitable you will relapse.

Best of luck with it adn if you have any questions feel free to ask

Thanks for the advice Joe - there's counselling near-ish to where I live so maybe I'll look into that. I've decided that if I relapse that's when I'll shift my finances to someone close.

I'm hoping that by admitting I've become addicted is going to be the main thing because then I can tackle it. For these past few months I've always thought I had control - but I don't. So putting into the recovery diary will hopefully make me much more objective whenever I get the white hot impusle to gamble.

This forum is a goldmine - so I'm learning a lot just by reading through diaries and various threads.

Hi equinox id recomend blocking software to stop access to online gambling sites its helped me a lot. Then you don't have to worry when ur able to log on again as u will not be able to get on any gambling site like me.

Thanks Adam - I've got all the online blocks, it's just the land casinos that present the problem now. It probably sounds dumb, but I do occasionally work across the country and at these times I work (on my laptop) through the night and the casinos (with the attached hotel) provide the perfect place to stay, work and have a pleasant drink at the same time, so I've not excluded.

But the online sites aren't linked to the land casinos so being in London today presents itself with a whole bunch of places ready to take my money.

But your post has stopped me dead in my tracks - it's so easy for me to live in a kind of gambling fanstasy where I think I can control my habit as good fun - but you've added a real voice here. One that says I need to quit and quit for good.

I owe you, buddy.

all the best

Hi Equinox

Great to see you on the forum, plenty of help & advice on here, I would recommend that you walk into any uk casino & ask to exclude yourself from all uk land based casinos, this can be done in a matter of minutes, all you need to do is bring a passport photo & your on the sence database which excludes you from entering all casinos , i’ve Not looked back.

Thanks Stepph - that's something I should really do. In a way, it's the true test of my commitment to quit. Your 'I've not looked back' comment pretty much tells me it's clearly the right thing to do.
