Hello everyone. I don’t usually gamble and it’s out of character for me, but recently I have been stressed out over the news about the cost of living. I am 23 years old and just graduated university.

I’m set to go back to university soon for my master’s degree but recently I’ve been trying to gamble to avoid situations, I’m really depressed because I could have had a big win last week which could have solved the mess I’m in, and I want to stop before it gets worse.

I left my job because they wouldn’t give me full time hours and I was only working weekends. I’m starting to think that was a huge mistake.

My partner is upset when I gamble and I don’t want to ruin my relationship. Thanks for listening.

@rose17 A lot of people who have been gambling for a long time find that when it becomes a problem it becomes their escape from dealing with life on life’s terms. This dreamworld that gambling offers is just that for a problem gambler, a dreamworld which promises much but actually delivers nothing other than causing more misery and does nothing towards solving any problems. The problems still exist.

Gambling is the symptom to your problem of how you are reacting to everything that is going on around you. I would suggest giving the gamcare advisors a call and see if some CBT could help you just see things and react to things differently, and therefore help you put gambling down before it starts destroying your life and your future.

Good luck.

Chris.

Hi , I started gambling when I thought it would be a way of getting more money for my family and then it started giving me a bit of excitement that I didn't have in my life and now I just can't stop and now I have messed my marriage up and I just don't know how to make the urge go away
