I would just like to say a big thank you to Gamcare for sorting my life out.
For the past few years I have been spending fortunes trying to get that 'big win' but it never came. I would chase my losses for that 'big win' but once again, it never came.
I was borrowing thousands of pounds from family to feed my habit. I would lie as to why I needed the money.
I would be betting mainly on the slots then went on to blackjack live dealer. I would start at ВЈ25/ВЈ50 a hand, and before I knew it I was ВЈ300-ВЈ500 down. I would then be betting £250 a hand (money I simply didn't have working 40 hours a week on minimum wage) before I knew it within 5 minutes I had spent all my wages and could be up to a few k down.
On the odd occasion I did win and I was a few hundred up, it was just numbers on a screen, I would think let's get to 1k then I would withdraw
Very rare did that happen.
I knew I needed help as I would be crying my self to sleep, not wondering how I was going to feed my kid etc. He always did get fed but I don't know how.
Only a month ago I signed up to gamcare and it has been the best thing ever. Reading other people's stories has made me wake up and take account of my life.
Now I am blocked off every site which is the best thing ever.

I have looked in to having a bank account where I can't use it on gambling websites. I could just have a cash card but I need my card to pay for online shopping and amazon purchases etc.
I can't get my partner or father to look after it as I haven't admitted to how bad it really was.

Well done cherisher for making that step and for coming on here. I think the gamstop is brilliant aswell. I couldnt wait for it to start when i heard bout. There are a couple of card companys that wont take gambling online withdrawels
Good evening . Whilst changing cards or banks is a help it’s not solving the issue . I carry cards with me and have been gamble free for 223 days (not that I’m counting !!) . Blocks are fine but In reality we can’t lean on that all of the time . There will be situations when blocks are not going to help you and you find yourself vulnerable. Unless you have a mental fortitude which I hope I have now . So please feel free to put the blocks in place but it’s only papering over the cracks . You need to develop in yourself and view gambling differently . Enjoy the benefits of stopping it and believe me you won’t look back
