Hi, my name is Karl. Ive been gambling since I was 17 years old. Now Im 27. Ive been losing a lot of money all these years. 2 years ago on one night Ive lost 5k, and took overdraft for 4k, lost it as well. From last 300 pounds I won 4k, paid my overdraft and told myself I wont play ever again... until 2 weeks ago.. Just wanted to play for 100 pounds.. From 100 pounds i managed to win 8.5k . I was so happy .. for 2 days .. Lost that 8.5 k, thought thats it, felt like s**t .. And unfortunately I had to go to online casino again and lose another 2.5 k ( everything I had ) . I was taking overdrafts often to play online casinos and bank was always giving me as big overdraft as I want.. And now when I have no money and I just want money for living they say they cant give it to me as I gamble .. I feel like s**t. I managed to not gamble for almost 2 years.. hopefully I wont ever play again. I should see this forum years ago.. Because when I read how big debts people have because of gambling I feel like I am not in such a really bad situation, that it can always be worse .. I have to stop gambling ..

Hello Karl,

Welcome to the forum and well done for posting your story.

It sounds like it is hard for you to maintain control once you start gambling. Many of our forum members say that this happens for them too, and indeed some of our forum members have posted the quote "I cannot win because I cannot stop", to emphasise to themselves the typical outcome of a gambling session in their experience. So you are not alone here.

How might you feel about putting some protection in place to help you avoid experiencing something similar in the future? For example, if you are based in Britain you could look at registering with GamStop: https://www.gamstop.co.uk/

Please look at our webpages about self-exclusion and blocking software in case you haven't already:

Take care,

Forum Admin.
