I just needed to post here because I’m 18 days into no gamble and I’m finding it hard. I used gambling fir many years as an escape from life c**P. I’m surrounding by c**P and I have bad mental health issues. I do have a therapist who I see once a week.
I just need to vent, I live with my mum and tonight she was (in my opinion) so selfish. I have advert blocks for the TV channels I watch so I don’t have to sit through 10+ gambling adverts a night, I find them highly triggering.
She comes in, turns on a channel without the advert block and within 5 minutes there’s 3 adverts on back to back. I asked her to turn the channel off because I find it triggering, she refuses and kicks off saying I should just not look.Â
Im so annoyed that she’s that thoughtless about something like this. She doesn’t see why it’s an issue or why it’s selfish despite knowing how triggering the adverts are for me,

sorry just need to ventÂ
Hi Lola, sorry your going through this, however well done on 18 days gambling free.Â
I also find the ads very triggering and can fully understand. I just don't think many people understand the seriousness when it comes to gambling and its very frustrating.Â
Â
Keep reaching out on here so you have a place to vent. Best wishes x

Hi Lola those stupid adverts are a trigger for many gamblers we were actually talking about it at my GA meeting last night. One guy said the one advert has the background music of one of his favourite songs, and that song is totally ruined for him as when he hears it now he feels angry. I'm nearly 5 months gamble free now and the adverts now only make me feel sad not for me but for people like yourselves who find them a trigger. I'm sorry your mum is unsupportive with this people who are not compulsive gamblers don't understand , but despite how you are feeling you are not gambling and that's really good and positive. Take it easy on yourself lola
@lola0612 hi Lola. Congrats on making it to 18 days.
I stopped for 6 months on willpower alone but then fell off the cliff massively because I thought I was over it and then was worse than ever.
Can I ask what you mean by a tv ad blocker? I've never heard of anything like that before. How does that work on live telly?
Affected by gambling?
