You deserve the plaudits Del - accept them in the way you would want others to!! As for your wife, tell her that I'm not speaking to her - how dare she have booked you already for the 14th March? Lol!! She's a superstar mate and must be very proud of you.

Also just wanted to say a huge congrats to Mike on his 80 days today - feels like a journey around the world in that time!! Well done - we're on the March to 100!!

Mr B (the non red rose wearing guy out in Glasgow on 14th March without Derek 'cos he's too busy to come out and play!!)

Wow, it's great to see so many people who started this journey with me doing so well. I'm really happy for you guys, my only wish is that I was there to celebrate these milstones you've been reaching.

Still gambling, in 2014. Still fighting to stop.

Thank you for the update Mr B, it is a great challenge to be a part of.

Another day at work for me, so no spare time which is a good thing for me. Day off on wednesday so that will be my danger day so need to get thinking of things to do.

Keep strong everyone

Onwards and upwards

Judderman as someone who has tried and failed so many times before I have found two things crucial this time round. Firstly the inspirational people on this challenge who are full of positive energy and will to help each other. Secondly handing over control of your finances to a friend or family member. Take the step of handing financial control to someone else and embrace this challenge for the remaining ten months of 2014 and you can beat this destructive addiction!

Hello Fellow Soldiers

I'm making a one off exception this week and checking in early. I like to check in every Friday but this week i've decided to check in today on my 100th day No Gambling. Seems fitting to do so.

Silverlining - I'm a Highlander also 🙂 However, now an adopted Glaswegian... love the weegies 🙂 great people..

Mr B - another fantastic update.. You know i have this feeling that this Challenge is going to grow arms and legs and more will come out of this. One day i'm fairly sure if things continue the Gambling Industry might just shudder at where this Challenge may lead.. you just never know.. looking forward to seeing you and a couple others next Friday for a couple of beers.

Cheers

Craig

Evening Team 2014!!

Great to see the positives coming through today!! Congrats to everyone for another clean day, but a very special callout to Craig for joining the 100 days club - that's 5 we have in this group now.....with The_Rock the next to join exactly 1 week tomorrow!! It's simply incredible how far we've come as individuals and as a group!!!

So, for the Scottish branch of the challenge - and any other soldiers who wish to travel north before a passport is required (no politics please!!) there will be a night out a week on Friday (14th) in Glasgow......agenda for the evening will be drinks, food and the general plotting as to downfall of the gambling industry!! I'll post the arrangements nearer the time, but all welcome and any suggestions for a venue would be welcomed too!!

Judderman - you were one of the founder members of the Challenge mate - I see some really strong self reflection in your post on the overcoming section, with some equally strong tough love coming back at you. Like Julie says - you are always welcome on the team and maybe the commitments required to a group would give you that sense of belonging that would give you that additional motivation? Let us know.

Craig - I hope you're right about this growing arms and legs - there are so many recovery diaries I read and think that these people would potentially benefit from the wider support the group is now offering. We have momentum now and we have commitment!! I'd settle for a tiny tremor in the industry....... But one that the ripples will spread afar. My aspiration is still to have 50 people plus friends or partners at a night next January! We'll use it as a fundraiser for Gamcare and maybe get sponsorship from someone under a CR banner!

Silver - proud of you girl - that's all I want to say. Please keep it going.......I really think this is your time.

RST - first month of many.......still pains me though - in my head it's 2 calendars.......but what an achievement on the online piece - only you know the difference that makes to you.....but we can imagine!

Anyway.........6 hours before I'm leaving for work so I better get the head down.

I am Mr Brightside and I have not gambled for 85 days. The pain of gambling brought on a new dimension for me today as the V Festival line up was announced........The Killers headlining. I can't afford it, it's as simple as that........however, I will be able to afford it in the future.........and I won't have the worry of gambling getting in the road of my hopes and aspirations........ever again!!!

Keep strong everyone........and always look forward.

Mr B

Evening all. Good to see that at everyone is having a good week so far. May the strength long continue within the group.

Had an interesting evening last night at my weekly GA meeting. We had a new chap come to our group who is a professional sportsman and is quite well known. He did his share and his experiences are very similar to mine( horse racing and football bets)

It just shows that this addiction that we have effects people from all walks of life, unemployed people, professional personnel to highly paid executives. No matter who you are this nasty illness can get a grip on most people.

I am off to watch England tomorrow evening at Wembley so looking forward to that.

All the best.

Mike

Good stuff Craig, 100 days is a huge achievement! Its hard to keep up on here, there's so many of us reaching impressive numbers all the time. I look forward to the day when the first of us reaches four figures! And hopefully we are all still here to hit it ourselves.

Mr B V Festival has your name all over it. I am seriously considering going and I am going to do my best to tempt you to come along. Maybe a few of us off here could even get day tickets and see the Killers together.

Hello Mr Brightside and all - Just Day 2 for me today, but already feeling encouraged by reading so many inspiring posts. Had a slight 'wobble' this evening when I thought about trying another site, but then remembered that I had installed a blocking programme - well done me! 🙂 or rather, well done the sterling folk on this site whose advice I took.

Peace and best wishes to all.
