Thanks Mr B for the latest copy of the Mr B times 😀

Always look forward to reading it and viewing everybody surpassing certain landmarks.

Lets break the £250,000 mark this week guys. All we have to do is not gamble and check in to achieve it!

Good luck to all on this hell of a journey

I'm new on here and the feedback is amazing

Day 2

Success is another day away from gambling

Days turn into weeks

Weeks into years

We can do this together

Checking in day 111, after last week this should be back to normal for me and hopefully everybody else. Can't actually believe I have come this far. Time and time again I would give up and then payday would come and it would suck me back in. Money would burn a hole in my pocket and I wouldn't be able to cope until I had bet it all away. I have not even touched last months wages yet, although sadly most of it will go to paying off a few existing debts.

Thanks to everyone on here, being part of this group helps me a lot, without you I don't think I would be winning this battle.

Rst - Checking in 72 days of freedom.

Came very close to depositing £25 on Friday evening after a few drinks and nothing to do in the evening but decided on just going to bed at about 10.30, shocking for someone who used to stay up so late and bet.

Saturday morning felt amazing and actually as if I'd overcome a massive hurdle. Realise need to avoid these times of boredom to stop chances of this possibly happening again.

Financial check today all good realised even with holidays to America and Turkey this year I can save around £3k by the end of year. So enjoying the benefits of not gambling. Even with £15k debt hanging over me I realise its not a sprint to recovery and if anything its something that will lead me to relapse.

Best of luck to all starting their journey, keep with it despite the temptations, its a trip worth taking.

Jellooo.....

So, I'm at 46 days now of no gambling.

Tough weekend but survived it, seeing what's going on in the world has made me realise how insignificant money is when you could lose your life tomorrow.

Also seen an article in the news today about problem gambling and how there is medical research being done into it as there is a reason why gambling turns compulsive..something to do with overactivity in an area of the brain.. I would recommend people read it as it makes sense.

Hope you are all doing well...

Sorry to b**t in on your post ToBeOrNot, but I read this report and this always lights a fire up my a**e. Anything that excuses our behaviour as CG's is a get out clause and makes it easier for us to avoid taking responsibility for our actions.

Like someone who says - "I gambled today, it's not my fault though because I have a disease, so the world must understand me and feel sympathy for me. When I gamble it's not because I want to but because I have this terrible disease that makes me do it, therefore nothing I do is ever my problem, etc"

I think this type of thinking is very dangerous (well, especially to me personally) because it allows me to do what I want then if I lose I can blame it on my 'condition'. Dig? Kind of like Catholics who can do the worst horrors on earth but then go to confession safe that they'll always be forgiven by the priest because he HAS to offer it, knowing we are all born in sin, etc.

Someone who has a disease or illness doesn't have it in their power to fix it just by thought and action alone. (IE/ someone with cancer, a broken leg, or schizophrenia can't just think their way out of it no matter how much they try) BUT as CG's we CAN - it's so simple - we just don't make the effort to place a bet. Understand the difference? I hope you do.

Hi everyone outthere tonight, checking in and hanging in - the urges to play the FOTB'S have been nagging at my bored brain again - tough to stay away when finances are tight. 'You know just twenty for the petrol, twenty for a week-end of DIY or SOME NEW CLOTHES, hard to resist, guess we all have the urges or we wouldn't be posting here - I'm hanging in though - resisting - reading some of the great posts on here. Thanks Mr Brightside for starting this challenge , its gives me hope, that I can beat these urges/feelings reading everyone's posts. Good-night.

Great update as we've come to expect Mr B. I haven't been able to contribute as often as I would have liked lately, I'm so ridiculously busy at work, developing new projects so I don't get much time to sit down and peruse the internet at all. I am still here though, and hoping that all soldiers keep up the good work. Day 127 for me...last week will have been difficult for some, but not really for me. Here's a fact about me: I've never bet a penny on horse racing, doesn't do anything for me whatsoever, however I have more than made up for it in other areas of gambling I am ashamed to say, that and football betting, probably the one area of gambling I still miss, I know where it leads though so won't be going there. I am going to drop you a line soon Mr B, I am up for a gathering next year, preferable south of the border!!!

Hi. I'm Angela and I'd like to join the challenge please!

I've made a return to the site after a big relapse gambling at an online casino on Sunday, and I'm ready to get back on the wagon and give it my best 🙂

I think this challenge will really benefit me, as my problem before has been lack of motivation to keep seeking that support. This time I intend to stay involved in the site and forums and use them for what they are here for!

Thanks for having me, and I look forward to getting to know you all better and sharing our ups and downs on the road or recovery together x

Angela, aka Pinky.
