Community
So important in recovery and comes in so many forms.
When I finally ended my relationship with gambling I firstly found the community of family and friends. I soon learned that the community would look different than before now everyone found out and it didn't look exactly like I had hoped but as I was present and working on myself, that community was stronger.
I find my tribe in the recovery community. Well I actually found several tribes in different communities but all of them had one goal, to stop, stay stopped and build an incredible life. These communities were where I could learn, share and empathise. Without it I would be back out there.
The final community I connected with was my local one. To be a true part of that and give back, rather than take take take has also been incredible. Doing people a good turn in whatever format that takes, people I don't know, just feels incredible.Â
With these communities I recognise it's a two way situation and I can't take more than I put in which is what I work on every dayÂ
