Good to have you back Mo, brightfuture and andy14. Have a good week troops and keep the check ins coming. There is a big event that may test some of us this week, stay strong that first bet isnt worth it and will only lead to a whole load of pain!

Checking in early - day 178. Almost 6 months which is good. Left with a legacy of debt which makes it harder to cope at times as find myself struggling to be able to afford 'normal' things - clothes, holidays etc. Main thing is I'm not gambling and people are starting to give me a level of trust. Should be in a much better position in life but the 6 months of irrational gambling spree has put me in this situation for the next 3 years. Really hard looking at a bank statement to see a hard earned salary coming in and a large payment to step change caused largely by a roulette wheel going out. Complete madness.

Anyway congratulations those reaching milestones this week.

Very sorry for missing last week born again. Unfortunately I no phone reception Friday-Sunday as was in a North Yorkshire wilderness. Will make sure I plan ahead better in the future! Anyway, still gamble free and will hit 6 months this week!

Hey I want to join! I recently joined the forum and heard everyone referring to the challenge but didn't see this thread til now!

I'm 34, gambler since 18, 150-200k lost over the course of a lifetime and currently 20k in debt

I play online everything - mainly sports but also casinos, poker and recently stock trade. I have never walked into a bookie and only went to a casino once aged 18 where I lost 4 quid and triggered this series of massive gambling losses.

anyhow, I'm day 4 free as of this moment so tomorrow is my day 5 and I would like to join the group. I may be missing for the first two weeks as I'm abroad and may not be able to check in bbut if I can I will. And definitely by the time I return ill be another 2 weeks free 🙂 I wanna catch up to everyone on 365 days!!!

Please let me get there!

Jay

junebug1981 your story sounds so familiar, but it also sounds like you have made a good start to recovery and have a positive mindset. Once you make another post you will be added to the front page and checked in.

Checking in, Day 131 Gamble Free!

Huge urge today with Royal Ascot starting today. It's the biggest urge I've had since stopping.

cloud its not worth it, you will feel awful when you have to reset your count, you will feel worse when you see your bank balance afterwards and that one bet could lead to weeks, months or even years of more gambling madness. Stay strong!

Hi Phil, please can I join the challenge ?

Huge relapse yesterday, convinced myself that I could gamble responsibly, sat all day looking/studying at the Copa America and Royal Ascot. Come up with a big plan - decided that Ecuador @ 1/2 were a banker, won 11 out of the last 12 against their opponent, to cut a long story short I did £500 @ 1/2 to get ''£250 Free for Royal Ascot, £50 a day on the horses'' and planned to withdraw my inital stake. You know the rest, Ecuador had the first half from hell 0-3 at half time, finished 2-3. £500 vanished, no Ascot, depression, anger, embarassment. Now 7 days until payday with £0 and have to try and avoid all the newspapers and internet about Ascot as I'll only wind myself up that fact I'm missing winners etc.

Determined to go gamble free now, going to use the theory if I can't win on a 1/2 then I certainly can't win on anything else to beat the bookies and quit now and be a winner the rest of my life.

Game on ! Day one .....
