Hi everyone

I am ergos and I am addicted to gambling on horses and occasionally football. Thinking that I can win at gambling has cost me so much money and time over the years. Now I would like to join you guys in 2015 Challenge to remain gamble free for the rest of the year. You are all doing so well and also very inspirational.

So here it goes, Checking in - Day 1

Take care

Ergos

Hello All!

Best wishes John and well done for coming straight on to try again. You can do it.

Welcome to the challenge Ergos and you've made a good choice to join us. The first few days and weeks can be very tough going. I'd recommend you read others diarys. It helps you to realise you are not in this alone. Lots of people give good advice. My top tip is to restrict any access to money wherever you can. You must be strict with yourself and preferably even confide in a close friend or relative who can help you.

Checking in day 177 today and best wishes to all for this weekend. Through this challenge and not gambling this year I've prevented myself getting thousands more into debt. At the same time I've paid off a few thousand plus been able to save for Christmas and a rainy day fund. I guess I'll never fully trust myself with money in the bank, but just hope I've learnt enough about gambling now to stay stopped and keep my money in my bank account.

Good morning everyone,

Well done to all those people who have achieved milestones this week, Triangle, Casey and the Ghost. Great effort and keep up your hard work. Welcome to the forum Ergos and I echo the fine words of wisdom that Clare has already said. John64, great effort by returning and admitting your minor relapse, I do hope you can learn from how you gambled again and push forward again with your recovery.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Mike checking in on 694 days.

Glads dad in safe n sound. Ive had a really traumatic week through 3 different things beyond my control - I've had slight gambling thoughts but not any way near enough to tip me over the edge it's been tough but my reserve kept me safe - roll on 1 year free from the horrors of gambling

Checking in day 280 gamble free. I had a dream that I won 5000 on a fruit machine the other night.. I'm happy playing them in my sleep. As long as I don't gamble while I'm awake 🙂
