Hi all, so today i have decided its once and for all im stopping gambling and want to make sure i have put all the possible steps in place, please look at the current steps i have done and let me know if im missing any:
•Self excluded from all bookies in my area
•self excluded from as many online betting websites as i found
•seen my doctor who is referring me back to the CMHT to hopefully get some support, i was discharged about 1.5 years ago as my health really improved but has now discontinued
•come onto this website to admit what iv done and get some support/advice
thanks guys all advice appreciated
Hi Darren, you should maybe look @ blocking software to suppprt your exclusions as well as handing your finances over to a loved one of possible. If not, downgrade your bank account/order a new card & scratch the CVV number off.
It's good that you recognise you need support because blocks are nothing more than a deterrent...Whilst you are waiting for the referral to come through (& maybe even beyond), get yourself to a support meeting (GA makes sense to me but there are others).
Gambling is not just a financial problem so your mental health will deteriorate if you do this. Welcome back to recovery 🙂
Hi thanks for the advice, i will look into getting some gambling blocker software, unfortunatly i dont have anyone who can look after my money, i might do what yiu said with the debit card but does this prevent me from buting anything online? Also i never really use it anyway as it comes straight out through paypal?
Hi Darren118
How about cancelling your PayPal account? Do you think that may help and act as another blocker?
Hi llt, possibly but i dont know if it would be best because when i do ever have money i but supplemnts ec which is a possitive? I have just found a consumer who for £4 sends forms off self excluding me from over 400 bookers on the grounds of mesical note well due to gambling, here is the website if anyone else is interested: http://www.onlinegamblingaddiction.net/
Affected by gambling?
