Starting to realise that I will probably always be this close to slipping back into this destructive habit.Â
Most days I think of gambling, I think of some of my favourite slot games and imagine the bonus symbols coming up and having a great win. In reality those rare (really really rare) decent wins don't come anywhere close to what has been lost over the years. Even when you aren't thinking about it, the ads are everywhere just ready to get their claws around you.
I came to my senses around a year ago...maybe it's a February thing. I'm signed up to GamStop for 5 years. Online gambling was the thing that turned a bit of a flutter into an uncontrollable desire to spend far too much time and money. I always paid every single bill but was so frustrating to never see any savings or be able to do useful things with my money.Â
I really wanted to gamble tonight. I debated playing one of those really dodgy non GamStop online casinos. I googled a few and managed to talk myself out of it. So now I am here reminding myself of every good reason not to be sucked back in and thinking of all the productive things I can do with my savings. Hard earned money that I will not throw away on this.
Anyway I saw a quote that I really liked and wanted to share:
"By gambling we lose both time and money, two things most precious to the life of man"

Dear Miglet,Â
Â
Thank you for post. We are sorry to read that you are struggling. Please be informed that there is a software called Gamban that complements Gamstop and blocks sites overseas.
Would you like to give us a call 0808 8020 133 or visit our Livechat so we can talk about your gambling and give you the link for Gamban? We are open 24 hours every day.Â
Kind regards,Â
Forum Admin.

Thanks for sharing that quote. It is very true. I had the same temptation of checking out some casinos online. I managed to stop myself for a few days but then gave in and now paying the bill, literally.

I'll try and do the same as you and pop back here to remind myself why I can't continue to gamble the next time I get the itch.
It's such a hard thing to overcome and it's easy to feel alone but you are really not alone. I think those dodgy sites are never going to pay out, I've heard that even if you win they have hidden clauses which mean they won't pay out. Also that your card details can be compromised using those sites (mine were last year after I had been on one)
But I guess the biggest hurdle is why we want to do it. Instead of saying "I'm never going to gamble again" break it down and say "I won't gamble today" then tell yourself the same thing the next day.Â
I know it's not as easy as that but be kind to yourself and take it a day at a time.Â
