Five days from now will mark two full years free of gambling.

For those of you battling with the difficult early stages of quitting, or marking other anniversaries,
- yes, you can quit and NOT go back
- yes, it gets easier with time
- - especially if you take note of how many good things happen to you as a result of one decision
- - like,more free time
- - and more energy
- - and more money
- - therefore ability to cope with stresses
- - and to pursue goals that actually matter

For those of you who have shared support and insights
- many thanks

For everybody
- do keep Guard Up permanently no matter how long you’ve been free

( The usual clarification: my handle 'dogfan' has nothing to do with animal-related gambling; just my admiration for certain domestic quadrupeds who, by the way, enjoy more walkies when I'm not wasting time gambling )

Congratulations dogfan, what an amazing achievement, I am on day 18 and will always keep my guard up, I am a recovering alcoholic (3 and a half years sober), it's the first drink that does the damage, it's the same with gambling it's the first bet that does the damage that's why I choose not to have that first drink or that first bet. Once again well done

Cheers then to all. Frightful nightmare last night, in which I went on a three-hour online gambling binge and, as I stepped away exhausted from the computer, not much of a winner, in fact having lost £30 on the evening, I thought "Yikes that was awful, and exhausting and dreary, and I don't want to do it again, but WHAT am I going to say to the lot on Gamcare? Another relapse diary? I feel terrible letting them down like that!"
Anyway it was quite a relief to wake up and find it was not so.

In waking life: there shall not be a first bet. Guard up, friends.
