Hey all as you may have seen on previous posts i have had a big issue with gambling, month after month losing all my wages. This payday came 2 days ago and i am sad to say i gambled but happy to say it was only very small compared to other months.
So i still have most of my wages after bills etc.
I have to look for a room to rent at the moment as i was staying with a friend and it was only short term.
Iam so so scared of living in a place on my own. I hate change and dont cope well.with it. Iam scared that each month what happens.if i cant pay rent, what happens if i isolate myself, what if i lose my job then i wont cope. I have dark thoughts at the moment, and sometimes think about well you know. Iam not going to but iam just so scared of the future and life.
Hi Rob
Think positively for the future and have a different method once you get paid. Is there anyone i.e friends, family you can speak to? I recentley joined and had a new pin, bank card and my family member looks after this. I am at 5 days now and feel so much happier than my dark place I was in last week. Use the triangle of time money location, if you dont have one, you cant do it. Good luck keep us updated and remember tomorrow is a new day!
Happy
Hi Rob
It's been a few days since you posted. How are you doing now?
You're facing some huge changes just now but you don't have to cope on your own. Moving house is stressful for anyone, let alone if you're also coping with gambling. It's good that you were able to stop your gambling when you did, unlike previous months where you'd have lost all your wages.
If you're still struggling you'd be very welcome to call the Helpline - details are at the top of the page.
Take care,

Have you considered seeing your GP for a referral to counselling to talk through these thoughts and gambling issues?
GA meetings could be useful, and of course there's gamcare and all the support from this site.
I was in a bad place and found myself unreliable financially at one time. I asked my bank to change my account to a basic bank account, no debit cards or credit cards, no overdraft etc. I only had an atm card, all bills were paid via direct debit or cash and I'd make sure everything was paid as soon as I had my monthly wage. I found that a great help in regaining financial control.
And most importantly be positive. See yourself coping extremely well! Talk to friends or loved ones, do your best to not be isolated and dealing with this alone. Give yourself credit for the good positive steps you take. You can do this. More importantly you can do this brilliantly!

Hi Rob
Its all about sorting things out so you feel better about yourself. What you are also having is a reality check which is good because gamblers live in a deluded dream world. A lot of your fear is lack of self control. You may actually be stressed and depressed.
Firstly you have a job so that is positive and you need to keep that as stable as possible.
Secondly you need to self exclude and put the barriers up now. Are you ready to do that because gambling will ruin you?
The reality is that if you have a flat and you gamble the landlord will be knocking on the door with an eviction order. If you have a girlfriend and you gamble she will probably leave. Sorry but thats reality and not the world where you think its ok to gamble. Ive lived on the streets and Ive lived in some very dodgy shared houses....you dont want to go there. What you want is a fairly content life with a bit left over and some choices
But youre a fighter rob and you have the same chances as most people.
You need to talk and talk to everyone that can help. There is no shame in admitting that gambling got to you. d**n that industry for what its after and what it does.
Lifes what you make it and its not all about money
You may now be suffering from anxiety and an appointment at the doctors and counselling will help. Talk to gamcare on a one to one basis
