Not long i know but its amazing for me.

However its alot easier to do when you gmabled 75% of your wages away on pay day so you have not alot of money. The real test will come when i get paid again in 12 days.

Everytime i get he urge i have been coming on here and reading and posting on the odd occasion.

Its so hard to when it has been a part of my life for so long ( a miserable part for most ) but i am determined to beat it.

I went in the bank the other day and worked out the best way to pay off my credit card all of which was money spent gambling... i also set up an isa to put money away so hopefully i can go on holiday next year something i missed out on this year due to gambling again.

Keep going everyone J x

Hi James,

Ive just read all your posts since joining here a couple of weeks ago.

Your vitually in the same boat as myself. I too joined here (1st May) after yet again losing money i couldnt afford to lose after just being paid.

What i would recommend is that prior to your next payday you should put some positive blocks in place to help you to find it harder to go and gamble away your hard earned wages.

I excluded myself from my local bookies and also the bookies nearest my work. doing this was really important to me and as you walk away you feel the weight has been lifted from your shoulders because you can no longer go in there.

I've also given control of my finances to my dad, i know it's not a very cool thing to do but i found it necessary, at least in the short term.

What i would also suggest is for you to look at joining the 2014 challenge which Mr Brighside has set up.

Wishing you all the best in your on going recovery.

Mark

Great going James! Well done.

I agree with Mark. My last slip has taught me I'm safer with access to funds limited. If I don't have a debit card I can't make that first deposit!

That holiday next year is a nice thing to aim for, and just think of all the gamble free days you'll have racked up by then. It'll be a holiday well deserved 😉

All the best,

Angela x
