Hi all have not been on here for a while, moved in to a new place, got promoted at work, my degree is going really well so far, BUT right now at this moment I have the urge to gamble really bad and strong urge, this comes because I self excluded from all shops near me and online but now I have moved there is one local, i found a passport photo so will self exclude in the morning but I am afraid if i go in tonight to do it, my mind is so fogged I will end up gambling where as if i do it in the morning before work my mind will be so much clearer, I know if i gamble my study will be affected and I can not afford to let that happen as i have 2 big exams this month.
Sorry for the rant but i have being doing so well i dont want to ruin all my hard work.

I hope you enjoyed your film and munchies binge. 🙂 you can get through this talk talk and talk. It would probably be best to go in in the morning a few minutes before work so you're on a time scale and have no spare time incase you feel the urge whilst your in there. Good luck please let us know how you get on. 🙂 all the best

Good luck with self excluding Rob, and before work tomorrow is a good idea, at least you know your going on somewhere, so haven't time to stay. Good luck with the exams.

Hi

Well done rob27 but please extend the blocks to everywhere else around work and on travel routes.

Moving to a new place is a big change and it can trigger feelings of uncertainty that trigger gambling. In counselling I realised that any change like my neighbour of 12 years moving out led to gambling. I hated the uncertainty of possibly problematic neighbours and I would gambe again...Any stress or uncertainty was a trigger for my escape gambling. I missed my neighbour and the stability of knowing she was there. Just that event triggered hundreds of pounds lost but it could have been any event causing stress and anxiety

The strength is realising that it may always be within us but I have never broken a block or attempted to. Its comforting knowing that works for me as I cant gamble where I am not welcome. I wouldnt even try and I havent searched out new places.

Moving to a new place is a biggy so take the fight on with strength and you will be comfortable there knowing that your routes to gamble are blocked. I did have thoughts but couldnt act on them so did something else until the thoughts were so rare that I dont know why I ever gambled. It sort of scares me now how addicted and out of touch I was

Being gamble free is a wonderful feeling

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
