No matter how hard I try I find myself gambling with money I don't even have - either my overdraft or a money transfer from credit card. I am now in massive debt (around 8K total).
Â
Today, I gamabled and lost 2.5k in the space of 30 minuites without even realizing deposit after deposit. I've signed up to GamStop but I guess it takes a while to update? Is their any way to get that money back at all? as far as I am concerned it is a breach of liceance as I lost so much in such a short period of time, no red flags on the account or any warning or attempt to block me from going further.
Â
The company in question so far has refused to even concider any kind of refund, but I am vunrobile and suffer with mental health issues and now in even worser debt, makes life even harder to deal with. I am blocked on many sites already, so I don't understand why they didn't see this before it happened - they could of done more and I beleieve they should of stopped me or blocked me automatically with the systems they have in place.
Â
The gambling commion state they do not get involed in dispuites or make refunds either, but apparently if a breach of liceance is discovered IBAS can offer help - does anyone know if this is true or a way to get the funds back?

Please, anyone help I feel so scared and emotional right now I'm in tears.
The money isn't recoverable but a more pertinent question might be why you're doing your best to get round your blocks. If you're determined to gamble you will as you've proved.
The tools to stop are out there. How much do you want recovery?
Your best tool to stop gambling is between your ears.
Stay safe, sane and take one day at a time.

Imagine yourself on a football field alone with a ball. You have both goals free and all the rest of us are up on the stands cheering you on. You can go to one goal or the other. No one can tell you which one to take.
The only change you can achieve is to take charge. If you can get up in the morning. Take a bus or drink a cup of tea you are able to make decisions that regard your own self. What you are stuck in is a habit you most likely do without a single thought about it. You probably gamble because it makes you feel normal for a second until your money is gone. All of that is fake news. All the angst and chemicals in your brain is chasing but it will come to a screaming halt when the cash is gone. Now you can decide like being on that football field on which side to go to but if you are on here you want a change. Then act accordingly and create a change. If you can not make big changes you can make small ones and many of them. Start there. Make small changes and you will see bigger changes come later on. It is about you not identifying yourself as an addict with mental health issues but more identifying yourself as a person who really wants to cast those chains away and become better because as long as you do what you do you will be a slave. Break free. That is why you are here. You are the only one who can do it. And we are here to cheer you on.
Best

Best advice I could give is let it go. You deposited and gambled the money knowing full well what you were doing. Take responsibility and own it. The money is gone. Let it be the final lesson for you. You will never win. Even if you win you'll pile it all back in and end up at zero. I know I did a gazillion times as do countless others. The only way to win is stop depositing your money. Get more blocks in place, get some help from professionals, family and friends. You can do it. The longer you abstain the greater the feeling of achievement. Don't give them your hard earned money. Keep it for yourself and buy yourself something nice and start to get rid of that debt. Once you're debt free you'll never want to get into it again. You need to get yourself into the f U zone. The zone is when you're financially free enough to say f U to anything you dont want to do, be that certain jobs or responsibilities usually tied to credit cards, loans, hire purchase, overdrafts, payday loans etc. That will bring so much more happiness than any number of endless spins or bets on a stupid online casino.Â
YOU CAN DO IT. GO FOR IT

The only way that the money would be potentially recoverable is if you have exlcuded from a sister site of the overall brand who runs the online casino as it should ban you from all brands under the license; but it is a very long shot.Â
When did you sign up to gamstop, when did you deposit the funds and is the casino you registered (and lost with) covered by UKGC? These are very important details. Do your personal details at the account you lost on today match what you have signed up to gamstop with (excat same name, address, email etc.)
I commented on a post you made the other day it doesn't appear as though much has been noted.....
The gambling binges and the debt will continue to spiral as long as you keep avoiding accountability Â
This nonsense about getting money back from the casinos is fantasy ..... the casinos would not be in business if they let people play and when they lost started refunding losses
You can pursue them until the cows come home they won't budgeÂ
instead i would go and plonk yourself infront of the mirror and repeatÂ
" i chose to gamble , i have lost the money , i am skint and in debt because of it"
sit there until you have accepted itÂ
Next you have to take control of the situation contact creditors , banks whatever tell them you are dealing with a gambling problem and ensure they shut access off too anymore credit .....some banks will even completely block gambling transactions all togetherÂ
Â
Finally you start thinking about how your getting out of this mess are you going to need to work 2 jobs ? maybe 3 ?Â
All luxuries will need to be completely cut out maybe for months at a time depending on how bad your finances are
Â
These are all steps which will "help " although most gamblers will not want to do them because it requires a lot of accountability and hard work ......

Hi mobile phone you have had some very good advice here from people who have walked in your shoes. And I'm going to reiterate a few things that people have said . It is hard to take responsibility , you are trying to deflect and blame everything and everyone else. I also did this and I think it is part of the initial phase of recovery, taking full responsibility is painful/uncomfortable, I blamed everything and everyone but with abstaining and self reflection in counselling I admitted .....it was me I did it. Now ok there are triggers but what I've had to do is actually learn how to deal with those triggers, some things will always be there.....escaping in spinning reels is not the answer and never will be I've accepted that now. You will feel better if you can accept it. Think about some counselling talk it through get it all off your chest. You can do this 423 days ago I was in the same place as you, dig deep get some determination, it will come if you let itÂ
Â
Thanks,
I also suffer for mental health and have disabilities it makes my impulses harder to control. I know it's my fault I usually blame myself for everything anyhow it's the way my depression is majority of the time if things go wrong always questioning if I did xyz different what would then happen.
