Hi everyone ive been on this before then fell back into a rut. But now i am back and this is definately it. Basically i have a problem with online slots. When i think about any kind of gambling, i cant control the impulse of it and before i know it im putting in and losing money. Right now im in no debt. I have no money problems so I have caught this before it gets any worse. But I have to try and make myself normal again. I want to be able to control the urges. Ive had counselling for a while and it does help but i have to learn to control my urges. Im just going to try and check in every day and see how long i can last gamble free. Hopefully the longer i last the less frequent and less strong urges will happen.

Hello GM88

I think you're right as you gamble less frequently the urges should lessen. How about trying something different when you get these urges pick up a book? Go to the gym? I don't know your situation but i found focusing on something else is a massive help.

I decided to have a clearout and sold unused items on Ebay so this was my focus for the first couple of months of attempting to get gamble free and then i turned my attention to books and trying to understand myself and why i have this addiction.

All the best

Hi conradnose thanks for the reply i have just started going to the gym and will come up with other things to do when I get the urge like reading a book. Ive went round and cancelled all online casinos i can find aswell as a help to stop. Ive set a personal target to try and not gamble atall to christmas which is almost exactly 6 months away so id be over the moon if i get to then. Then take it from there.

Hello GM88,

Well done i know how difficult it can be putting in place these blocks.

I read a book called the "Power Of Habit by Charles Duhigg" It's gambling related but it taught me about my actions and how i should break up habits if i don't like them such as gambling. I'd recommend it if you do decide to start reading.
