I have been gambling for a few years now , but at first it was just on nights out in the pub . Then the end of last year I decided it would be a good idea to get a contract phone ... What was I thinking? I started to use the pocketwin and mfortune slots and my bills rocketed from ВЈ50 a month to just short of ВЈ200 and Ive also started to frequent the pub more often were I could easily walk out broke, even if I win I play it back. Ive had a couple of good wins online but by the time they process it I've played it back on last week I played back just short of 2k and also have a £500 BILL to pay ... How do I go about getting blocks on my phone as this isn't healthy and I'm getting worse . I know I have a problem and need help thankyou

Hi and Welcome,

I'm not good with mobiles and stuff but others may respond on that one. In the meantime, you could do worse than contact Gamcare for advice.

I use k9 block (free) on my laptop.

Best Wishes

Mr Stop

Hi MrMLee

The best thing you can do is talk about it on here and with anybody close. Phone gamcare and talk it through as many times as you like.

You need to stop now...... get you life back and join us gamble free.

You will need blocks on your phone and may have to hand it over until you are in a healthy state of mind. Older style talk and text phones are still available

I just dont go to pubs now and certainly not alone or with groups of people that might drift over to machines. Pubs and arcades was my thing on and off for decades.

I have now beaten it with blocks and a new sense of openness with the people close to me

Joining the forum was a great move so stay here and you will learn lots about the gambling addiction. You will get plenty of help and advice on how you can make it history

Try some exercises and talk through exactly what you have been doing. You wont be able to rationalise it in the cold light of day because gambling is an illness and addiction of the mind.

It isnt heathly and its a deadly addiction along the same lines as drink and drugs. Gamblers ignore the odds and live in a dream world of addiction. It may be linked to depression and escape as the mind seeks its chemical highs

Best wishes in your recovery

Thankyou for taking the time to write back to me it's appreciated. I have been finding it really hard lately. In the past few days including this morning and last night I gambled 60 each time ... Money I haven't even earnt yet . How would I go about getting blocks on my phone? I already tried calling Vodafone and they couldnt help me . I'm also finding it harder since my brother has moved out as I seem to be spending more and more time on my own which makes it easier for me to gamble without anyone knowing . I have been keeping up with bills as I still live at home but if I lived on my own I'd be in such a darker place riddled with debt .

Hi,

The simple (yet brutal) answer is get rid of any phone with internet access and return to a less fashionable model!.

No internet phone or access = no gambling. In my case it was bookies slots. No cash = no gambling. I gave up access to cards and cash for a long time.

You need to put a huge block in place and it is the access to the sites in your case.

We gamblers are sneaky individuals so half measures dont really matter to us.

Best wishes
