Hi Guys,

I posted for the first time around a month ago. I last about 2 weeks (I managed this a few times) and then about a week ago I lapsed and have not stopped since. I have lost hundreds of pounds in this week and I feel horrendous.

I have since banned myself from more online sites. Online is the big issue for me. A part of this was the fact that I knew all of my card details by heart, as a result, at work or wherever I was I could just sign up to another site. Its completely drained my bank and part of my savings and we're not even half way through the month. I cannot afford to lose anymore as I have a couple of trips booked.

Today I ordered myself a new debit card which will hopefully help. I have next to no more online websites to sign up to thank god, I am banned from most. From this point on I am going to post on this thread every day to report how I am doing and how I'm feeling. I really need to stop gambling this time. Please let me know any tips guys, may be useful to know that I use a Mac so can't use any gambling blockers. Anybody know any banks that allow you to block gambling payments? Or any tips related to the bank that can prevent me from gambling.

I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello thatitguy

Thanks for coming back and making a fresh start. Just to let you know, there is at least one blocker that works on Macs. Have a look at this page on our website:

Wishing you well with your recovery

Hi

Is there anyone that can remove your gadgets or monitor your gambling activity on the computer? I saw the other day that even the local library are having to put gambling blockers in place.

I understand a relapse but as you have relapsed its time not to use a mac anymore if you cant get effective blockers on there.

Its going to take plenty of willpower but you have to remove one of the key factors allowing you to gamble. Some live on an allowance removing the money side of it.

The opportunity is the gadgets. I hate how online gambling companies make it convenient to gamble 24/7 They know exactly what they are doing and the misery they are causing.

a relapse shows you that its not easy and you have to keep control. You may need counselling sessions. Can a partner step in and manage your finances

All the best

Hi, many thanks for all the advice! I unfortunately did not keep up with my promise of posting on here daily and during the period I have gambled numerous times. It's pay day soon, I get my new increased pay packet. I am planning a budget and sending any disposable income to a friend to keep. I really hope I can kick this habbit!

What you said about the bookies making it convinient, is so so true! It angers me! In my local town there is at least 10 if not 15 bookies, its ridiculous. There needs to be stricter regulations in place! Online is also ridiculous but it is hard for any sort of governing body to change that I guess. I wonder if there is anything we can do together to change the way of the bookies?!

Hi, reading through your diary. God I wish there was a button to allow us to be banned from online gambling, I even searched it lol. I even called my bank which was embarrassing and they couldn't help.
For me enough is enough I can't go on living like this day by day how will my family survive the month.
I hope your staying strong, keep posting it really helps.

Remember you can't win because you do t know how to stop.
All the best
