Hey, I've been gambling for about the entire 5 years I've been of age to and although I'm not in any troubling debt (the odd 100 payday loan, no credit cards or bank/personal loans), It is a rather large problem at the moment.

I get paid a weekly wage which for me works out quite ideally as I pay a bills and always have some leftover, however ALL this will find its way to gambling in some way or another.

I used to be able to take 50 into a casino, play some cash poker if I lose, walk away, if I win a fair bit and didn't want to play much more, walk away. But one day I couldn't get a seat and found myself at the roulette wheel, say no more...

won thousands over the next couple months and couldn't believe my luck on roulette, I even thought to myself, "how does the casino make money on this?"

Then a bad streak, horribly bad, lost everything I had plus what i'd saved. Now when I get paid all my leftover cash goes on football/horses/dogs/roulette(never virtual betting or fixed odd machines though oddly), I can take 200 in a casino and that'll last me 4 spins if I'm careful. 25 straight up on numbers and not even consider the loss, it's terrible. One time I was up to the best part of 4 grand in 20mins and lost it in 5 spins. I used to enjoy the odd gamble and game of poker but now I find the buzz so feeble in comparison to football acc. wins, tricast odds and roulette that I barely play.

I still want to be able to place the odd accumulator and have a little punt on the horses, but just need to get out of this cycle of spending everything I have every week, I try some weeks by taking my friend with me who only does a 1 jackpot, we go halves on a 2 stake on it, but then at times I have him waiting for ages whilst I'm also placing on every horse/dog race going. Such a hard habit to break =/ ... does anyone have any advice on how they have been able to bring their stake back down to a reasonable amount and how they've been able to maintain that without being tempted??

While it is theoretically possible that there exists, somewhere, a person whose unique psychological makeup means that they both

(a) have the experiences you describe, and

(b) can safely gamble at a low stakes / limited loss level,

I have never

(a) heard of a person with those characteristics,

(b) met somebody who has heard of a person with those characteristics

It makes a lot of self control and most people with gambling issues do not have that. They can't stop and walk away usually.

Hi if I'm honest I read your forum and I thought hmmm I've never heard of this but me personally I think it's either stop all together or you'll carrying do what your doing you will never be able to just low stakes you will end of in the cycle of more and more and more that's my advice!
